So I have been wondering..how often does everyone wash the towel they use to dry their car..I have been washing mine after every car wash but been thinking..if I just washed the car and it was clean water drying it do I really need to wash it every time.

I wash all my towels the same day I use them. Prevents products from staying in the fibers too long

Every single time. If you don't, and you wipe it over a spot that didn't get washed well enough, it's going to pick that dirt up. If you don't wash it, the next time you go to use it you're going to grind that dirt back into the paint.

How about spray wax and QD towels which have only touched a clean car after being washed?

Still after every use - you need to clean out the QD and (particularly) the spray wax from the towels, which is easier if done sooner.

I guess my other thought is..since my car is not a DD and sits int he garage most of the time and when i do wash it it really isnt dirty but just has a layer of dust on it.

Every other week...it never hurt me (or my vehicle) if I didn't wash them that week. I mean it's only water.

I wash mine after every use. Invariably, I'll drop one, or get part of it inside a wheelwell, or it'll find dirt SOMEWHERE.

I let them hang dry and will use them for glass until I have enough ready to run a whole load, though.

Usually, but not always every time. It helps if you have enough towels to make a small load.

Sometimes I'll use a towel several times. If they are clean and staying off the ground why beat them up in the machine. Drying towels only, any other use is once and into the bin.

I may get away with a couple times with a waffle weave, plush towels is every time

I wash mine after every use, once a week. Sometimes I will use a towel, such as a wheel well towel, more than once. I use regular laundry soap and add vinegar. I also use Laundry Balls when drying. They work great for removing stactic and towels dry a liitle faster. They are also supposed to add more fluff to the towels but I haven't really noticed that. But before I tried the L. Balls my towels would have stactic cling very bad. The Balls completely elimated all the stactic. I am impresssed. And they only cost a couple bucks.

Yeah, I hear you guys--I am absolutely guilty of reusing towels...what if I am cleaning off a bird poop and there's a pretty clean looking towel that's on the top of the MF laundry bucket--why dirty up a clean towel with bird poop when there's one waiting to be washed anyway.

But as a general practice, who wants to try to keep track of how many times you've used a towel and for what? Generally at the end of a session all the towels go in the "to be washed" bucket. An exception might be if I have a towel with a bottle of QD or glass cleaner, that I only used for a partial wipe and there are a lot of clean sides left, I'll keep that with the bottle of whatever...but after a while it becomes hard to remember which sides have been used.
