I bought a cheap air compressor the other day. This is the first time I've detailed with compressed air, and it was amazing! Blowing out air vents, buttons, door pockets, cup holders, and seams was a huge time saver. No more scrubbing with a toothbrush!

I've read about people using air to blow the majority of the trash out of the car before vacuuming, but when I tried this, most of the trash was getting hung up on the lip of the interior- where the floor curves up to meet the door. How do you blow trash over the lip and out the car? What's your technique for air purging a car?

I don't understand how you were able to clean dirty cupholders, pockets and buttons with compressed air?

Hey Flash!

I still had to go back with soapy water (or APC and water) and a rag or brush, but blowing them out first with the air compressor got A LOT of stuff out, like crumbs and dust. As an example, blowing out the cup holders first got all those little crumbs out that are normally so hard to get out of the edges when using a wet rag or brush.

After I used the air compressor to remove the loose dust, crumbs, etc, I went back with a wet rag or brush (depending on the area I was cleaning) and all I had to do was clean up the dirty surfaces and not try to pick out all the little crumbs and dust from the seams and corners.

I always do this with my compressor when detailing at home before vacuum and the rest of the interior cleaning. It saves so much time I have started doing it on the mobile ones with my shop vac in reverse.

So how do you get the trash to blow up and over the door jam?

Don't. Then you have a mess on your garage floor. Blow all the crud out from under your seats and out of your cup holders, then vacuum it all up.

My very first step is using my air compressor to blow out all the nooks and crannies.

You guys must detail cars that are cleaner then the ones I get. Sometimes I have to resort to a screwdriver to remove candy from cupholders

Jolly Rancher will laugh at compressed air :D

LOL!! Yeah JR wont come out without alot of coaxing Im sure.

Flash you just need one of those air compressor that you tow. You know, the ones that drive a jackhammer. It will take care of the jolly rancher along with the cup holder.

And the center console, the carpet, and possibly the floorboard.
