I just acquired a used vehicle. As usual, the selling dealership performed an interior detail that left the surfaces feeling slightly oily, and shiny enough that, for instance, the bright sun reflects off the shiny black dashboard into the driver's eyes.
Also, the medium-strong fragrance has not dissipated in four weeks of driving and leaving the windows open.
Two of my family members are sensitive to pretty much any chemistry. One reports her skin itching after being in the car, the other reports a lung reaction.
My immediate goal is simply removal of whatever's there. All the products I see recommended here are describe variously as leaving a protectant, having "low odor", or leaving a shine, which implies that when done, some of the product remains.
The vehicle is a 2013 Infiniti G. White ext, black interior.
The seats have perforated black leather central surfaces and non-perforated vinyl sides. Eventually, I'll need seat covers, as those vinyl side panels are hot, even when the interior is cooled to the 60s. For now, though, my focus is simply getting the interior clean.
Dashboard is black, textured, whatever plastic they make dashboards out of today. Door panels are also a plastic of some sort.
I'm aware that the fragrance may come from however they cleaned the carpets, but for now, since the seating surfaces, doors and dash very obviously have an oily coating, I'm working on that first.
Thanks!
