I purchased some PERL this past weekend, to consolidate products. Currently, I'm using Meg's Detailer Solvent Dressing to dress wheel wells and engine plastics, and Meg's Endurance Tire Gel (METG) to dress the tires. I want move to using PERL for all of the above.

My question is how to clean the tires of METG, because this past weekend I sprayed PERL on the tires (which haven't been dressed in weeks), and the PERL would just bead up on the tire, no matter how much I tried to work the product in.

I want to completely strip the tires of METG so that they can "absorb" the PERL when it is applied. I haven't had a chance to try any of these products yet due to the weather, but here's what I currently have in my arsenal regarding cleaners that may work:
- Meguiars Detailer All Purpose Cleaner Plus
- Meguiars Detailer Super Degreaser
- Meguiars Detailer Non-Acid Wheel and Tire Cleaner
- Chemical Guys All Clean Plus

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Any of those should work, you're just going to need to spray, scrub, rinse, repeat, until the suds are white with no brown. Then take Swanicyouth's tip and wait a few days and do it again (the tire absorbs some of the silicone oils and after you clean them more will migrate to the surface over time).

Goop off. Put gloves on, dampen a towel with it, then wipe. Effortless removal. Use a little apc and lightly scrub to remove goop off residue, rinse, let dry, then dress.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah, I didn't know if one would work better than another at helping remove the silicone, but what I'll likely do is use a combo of the Megs APC+ and Degreaser over a couple of days.

I must say, I was pretty impressed with METG. Even when the dark black look was gone, the beading was still fantastic. It's a very good product that can be purchased for a pretty low cost.

I dunno, I find a lot of even water-based dressings will exhibit that type of performance--but the pre-application cleaning is critical. No greasy kid stuff for me.

If the above don't work, I would try out Meguiars Hot Wheel and Tire. To take off the tire dressing.

Just make sure it's safe to use on your wheels. And some scrubbing lol

Or even better call Meguiars.

I was not super impressed with PERL on my tires. It did not have much lasting power. Endurance Spray lasted much longer, as has both Pinnacle Black Onyx and Blackfire Total Eclipse Tire Gel.

If you like shiny tires, go for it.

Not sure what that means. Both Endurance and Blackfire are not very shiny...they are more of a satin finish. Black Onyx is glossier. One needs to layer both Blackfire and Endurance to get something that resembles a high shine, otherwise they have a nice dark satin look.

I just use apc+ and hot water should come right off I use Meg's Gel all the time.
