Hello
I am cleaning my friends 2005ish civic. I vaccumed the interior but I never had to really clean a microsuede. I have folex and megs APC plus diluted to 10:1 and 4:1. I just don't wanna mess it up. It's really matted down. Since I don't have a wet dry vac would I just spray10:1 scrub it and blot it ?
thanks

I say you are on the right track. I would treat it no different than a headliner; use the 10:1 but do not spray direct on the fabric; which by the way is likely polyester. Where you find tougher areas go to the 4:1. Worst case is rub harder or use a soft toothbrush. You just have to be careful not to soak the fabric.

DO NOT rub it hard. otherwise it will ball up when dried and look like total crap. if you need to agitate it, do so very lightly with a soft boars hair interior brush. If you work slowly there will be no problems.

I don't have a boars hair brush :-(....but I have a soft toothbrush I can try....should I use a circular motion or back and forth motion ?

Alcantara, Ultra-suede, Nu-buck, Escaine, Micro-suede...names for synthetic suede-leather. Different cleaning/protecting methods/processes must be used. Very delicate fabric. Very water adsorbent...too much will leave water stains. Pills rather easily...don't rub excessively/aggressively (mg6045 tip).

Speaking of horsehair brushes (another good tip from mg6045)...

Here's some info from the horse's mouth:
{Including some very interesting cleaning methods/products suggestions}

Leathermasters also has products for this type of auto upholstery:

LeatherMasters Foam Cleaner for Nubuck/Alcantara, Ecsaine, Micro-suede
LeatherMasters Nubuck ECO Protector

One more thing:

Try to use white cloths (or as white as possible) for applying cleaners/protectors....this will ensure no dye(s) transfer.

Good luck!

thanks for the info! I used a micofiber and 4:1 and rubbed it. Came out pretty good. Once again thanks for the good info. I need to pick up one of those brushes!
