I first thought I owned a Riccardo Foam Cannon but after closer inspection it's just a MTM Hydro.
What you'll need for this
  • Foam Cannon
  • A small L key or other small diameter tool
  • 7/8th inch spanner or wrench
  • Patience
  • CLR
  • Tooth brush or similar
I removed the bottle leaving me with the head only

This is the first pin you need to push out with your small diameter tool

Next take your 7/8th inch spanner and grab hold of the the brass thing you see in the picture

After you release the initial tension you should be good to just loosen away by hand

Can you see the little metal filter inside that piece

I use the end of a L key to push it out

Next put that piece inside disposable bowl, if you have a plastic one it's way better as I found out that CLR eats away at these things so I
changed it

I then ran it under warm water with an old toothbrush to really make sure I got it clean. It's good as new now.

Reassemble in reverse order.

How long has it been since you did this maintenance? I got my cannon about two weeks ago and have used it a handful of times already.

I recommend you do this every 50 washes or so, sometimes you'll notice a decline in performance and if all other variables are the same then you should clean the filter. The real problem is if you read the the instructions carefully your supposed to rinse the system with clean water after foaming the car but no one does this so the filter gets clogged with soap.

I use degressor and leave it in side the end pice then drop it in a water cup and fill cup with degressor let sit in there till next time I use it.To stop this you just need to run with know soap for 5 min after your done each time. ps ag sells new screens also

damn....... that's a lot of work....... would running white vinegar through it on occasion do any good?

There is nothing easy, quick, or convenient about using foam cannons. There is always a trade off. Their use requires more resources, setup and cleanup time, and product than alternative methods.

Hoping to get a little guidance here as I have got to be doing something wrong. When doing the step to loosen the injector housing I just can't get the thing to pop loose. I am cranking with everything I've got! The threads on the neck are compressing and warping. While I'm not a circus strongman by any means I'm not a tiny guy or older (35 and 6'3 / 180lbs). I've tried counter-clockwise then reversed to clockwise in case I am just missing something. I'm using two adjustable wrenches and just not having any luck.

Is it supposed to be this difficult to loosen? I still assume you torque counter-clockwise but am I wrong, is it clockwise?

Lefty-loosey, righty-tighty.

That's what I would have assumed. But damn, I was putting my full weight on it and it won't budge. Don't want to snap things off - anyone have this experience?

I bought my Cannon a few months ago. Mine is slightly different than the one in the pictures. After removing the black handle there appears to be two nuts in close proximity to each other, however, they function as one unit. Use a wrench on the one closer the main housing, and on the one directly next to the housing. I placed the further end in a clamp.

Mine ended up not being clogged due to the filter, it simply had a tiny piece of rust blocking the hole frok the pressure washer handle. Just something to check!

I have the same newer unit like Dunrite

Just wondering if that filter is absolutely necessary for the unit to work??

Thanks for the write up. I'll have to clean mine this weekend.

I believe the screens cost about US$15 in a 3-pack.

Nick did a show-and-tell about this same topic, but I don't believe his cleaning involved a 12-hour dwelling.

If I were going to do a 12-hour dwelling, I'd wait until I had 3 or 4 filter screens to soak for that long.

Thank you, hamza, for sharing!

I do this religiously after every wash lol
