So I opened a detail shop and I can't find the right employees. I have hired some but it's not turning out that great. They are starting to become lazy and not responsible. Do you guys go somewhere to find these guys?

Seriously.. me love you long time, you pay me now i do good work.

That is inherent with anyone that is not passionate about what they do. And most kids I said most not all don't get offended just want to make a buck.

That said though you can try and leverage that to your advantage and offer say a monthly incentive to the one that does the best most consistent work over the month...

If your willing to pay well and in NY I'll come work for you ;)

Depending on what exactly you are having these guys do might want to try a temp agency.

Go to your local carwash observe the guys working in detail find the one that works the hardest pick that one because you cant teach hardwork...Everything else can be learned

Not a bad idea honestly. Besides of course picking up Setec or I!

I spent a whole day watching workers at a couple of carwashes to begin the process of finding key players to load up our parking garage detail shops when we get there...I identified 2 out of 40+ workers

It really depends on what type of employees you are looking for. An ad on Craigslist will atleast alert your current employees to either get with the program or hit the road. You may already have excellent employees and not know it. Money will do alot to motivate them. If you pay them $10/$12 an hour then you really can't expect them to go above and beyond. With the right leadership (Shop manager) any average detailer can be shown the correct and most efficient way to get the job done.
