Hi I`m Gabriel from Argentina and this is my DIY for make a 3M Sun Gun for a small quantity of money.

First I`gonna talk some about me and my business

At this moment I have 22 years old (23 in two months) and I love cars from when I was a kid and by that reason I create a business for Detail

I sell products of Detail in Argentina about 2 years, also make Valeting and Detailing

Some time ago I was thinking in buy a Flashlight like brinkmann or 3M Sun gun for see paint Defects but when I look the price I say :wow: that cost a lot, the same as my Flex Polisher. Also take in mind that the cost for bring here is twice that in USA for the shipping and tax customs cost.

Pro:
-We have a great lamp for paint defects
-Spend no more than U$S10
-We can use a lot of lamps halogen (Yellow) and led(Blank and Blue)

Cons:
-We have a cable (But hey cost U$S390 less):props:
-The lamp warm a lot and maybe can weld our plastic lamp if we use too much time

I hope that this DIY is helpful for you, apologies if some words have been wrong

Any comment should be great for me, this is my 1st DIY

Thanks for your time and have a nice day!

Best Regards!

That's pretty damn awesome; I wouldn't mind paying extra to incorporate a battery pack though!
How is the output and colour? Is it more similar to a sun gun or closer to the xenon brinkmann?

That's an awesome idea!

Is it safe to use like that though? I thought the power going to that bulb needs to be limited somehow, or maybe I'm wrong. I don't know much about wiring.

Sort of along the same line of questioning:
What are you plugging the now: "hard-wired" 50W bulb/lamp into?

Also, if I may suggest:
Solux makes the patented 35w halogen color-matching bulb/lamp (the same bulb/lamp that's in 3M's Sun Gun).

MAN, that's JUST what I want in something I'm holding. 120volts twisted together with SCOTCH TAPE over it! I hope you don't die on your first detail. Being bit by 120 isn't the best feeling.

I think I like the battery powered drill idea better, even though it's about $30 more I feel it's safer.

I bet the voltage is a little more than that in Argentina (220/230/w-250-spikes).

That's why I'm interested in knowing what he's "plugging it into"...
Hopefully it's an approved step-down transformer of sort or the other.

Lol it will probably last longer than a sun gun! One thing nobody knows is that the battery lasts like 10 mins of running. Although I will admit, looks a little dangerous...

Its similar to Sun Gun, you can change the lamp for one with led (Blue or White) and works well too

I know that is not safe, by that reason I put that you need scotch for electric instalations (I put normal scotch for see how make it). Here is 220volts the power output

hahaha I know its dangerus, but I need to make some modify with the electric instalation. Yesterday all is close near from my house

What is the part number for the GE lamp?

Maybe we could do some cross-checking and fine a 120V version for use in the States.

Great idea!
