How to make Nxt Generation 2.0 more durable???

Purchased some Nxt Generation tech wax 2.0 for $13.97. since it was such a good deal figure I give this wax a shot. My question is How can I make this wax more durable which out compromising shine?


Would layering a Carbanuba wax over it work?Feed back please
 
If you wanted durable, you should have sprung for Collonite 476 for about 5$ more. But yeah, putting a pure Carnauba over it might buy you a couple more weeks.
 
You could always use Ultimate Quik Wax as a maintenance product after each wash.

First:
Properly prep-the-paint per: "AG Standards". :)

Then:

"What you want to do to get the absolute maximum out of NXT 2.0 or just about any other synthetic polymer sealant is this":

•"Apply a thin but uniform coat of NXT 2.0 to all the painted surfaces of the car
•Allow to "dry" or haze fully - usually about 15 to 30 minutes depending on temperature and humidity;
-use the swipe test to make sure it's fully "dry" before wiping off

-lots of people will apply that coat of NXT 2.0 and then do things like clean the glass inside and out, vacuum the interior, dress all the vinyl & leather, dress the tires and wheel wells, then clean up the garage - by the time all that is done a good hour or so has gone by and the NXT 2.0 is virtually guaranteed to be fully "dry" and ready to wipe off

•Now give that first coat of NXT 2.0 a period of 12 to 24 hours for it to fully "cure".
-Curing involves a full crosslinking of the polymers so that the coat fully bonds to the paint. During this period the polymers can remain surprisingly dynamic on the surface and can literally be "pushed around" so to speak.

•Apply your second coat of NXT 2.0, effectively repeating steps 1 and 2 above.

•Applying the wax and letting it "dry" overnight can lead to problems, especially in high humidity areas. In such a situation the dried or hazed material sitting on the surface can start to draw moisture out of the air and subsequently become difficult to wipe off. This can also lead to streaking, just as wiping off much too soon can. Even if you don't have any wipe off issues after doing this, you really don't gain anything by letting the wax "dry" overnight".

try to keep NXT 2.0 as moisture free as possible.

I'd follow Mr. Stoop's advice and apply the second coat of NXT 2.0 instead.

From everything I have read (from Meguiars, Mike Phillips, etc), the second coat is to ensure uniformity and fill in any gaps missed on the first coat more than anything else. The 2nd coat doesn't necessarily make the coating thicker or make it last longer. Or at least that has never been proven.

Anyhow, my point is that if you ensure a good, uniform first coat, a 2nd coat is largely unnecessary and mostly for psychological benefit. Someone please correct me if I'm off base here.

Agreed and not slamming the OP here but the info is out there, no reason to ever go and buy the NXT 2.0 when #476 is out there, heck, #845 is more durable than NXT 2.0.

I do like how the NXT 2.0 looks though and for an over the counter product, that's saying something:thumbup:

I've never heard of #476, just 845. Great, now I have something else I have to buy. lol

IMO:
Applying the second coat of NXT 2.0 is more conducive in assuring total, (maybe even uniform), coverage...
than applying a carnauba wax to perform a similar duty.

I'll also opine that:
Layering, with the hope that an increase in the thickness of an LSP or "extra shine" will occur...may probably be just that: Hope.

Best way to make any lsp more durable is to top with Collinite :-)

Or better yet, just use the Collinite :xyxthumbs:

You'll thank me later and BTW, check out Collinite #915, again, you'll thank me later and you can pass that NXT 2.0 down to a friend or family member, you'll not be needing it anymore after you try/use #476 or #915;)

The advice Bob provided is your best shot. I noticed improved longevity, or beading rather, after letting it fully dry. I didn't do a second coat of anything.

I disagree, the OP asked how to make a product known to not be durable more durable, durability meaning longevity. What best way to preserve its life other than layering something much stronger over it? He can layer NXT till kingdom come but it will never have the durability of a single layer of something proven. The best advice here was the simplest and one that will save him time and money going forward, " get something more durable from the start". Dont try and fix something when you can just buy something that doesn't need fixing.
 
I prefer to use liquid waxes. colinite 845 is a good wax. Just hated the smell after clean up..

I have a friend who moved from NXT 2.0 to 845 and couldn't be happier. What I find is many brand loyal and brand hoppers, yesterday they swore by xxx, today by yyy, day after xxx. The brand loyal types have blinkers on even when better/cheaper proven products are out there. I have an anti Collinite friend who swears by a certain xxx brand. He oneday admired a car I just detailed and asked me what lsp I used. I responded by telling him its the xxx he likes so much and he went on about how awesome it is. I let him finish and then broke the news to him, told him its the product he despises so much (was infact 845 ). Lots of placebo when it comes to lsp's.

Attempting to make something durable that just isn't. The Megs product that I used and own with decent durability is the Ultimate Liquid Wax and looks identical in my eyes to NXT 2.0.
