how to prevent water spots on glass?

I just bought a new car - I dont want it to develop water spots on the glass (car will not be garaged).
Would it be best to use carnauba wax on the windows to prevent spots? or is there another product I should look to purchase? thanks
 
Usually the water spots are from your washing or sprinklers. Get a water softener or CRSpotless and keep it away from the sprinklers. Either that or wash in the shade, keep the car hosed down until you're done, dry quickly (windows first), and polish with something like Klasse AIO, or the DG Glass Polish (or water spot remover) to remove the ones you get.

As far as using carnauba, usually 'nuba's bead more than sealants, beading = spots, so use a sealant on the glass (something like Opti-Seal is convenient, or there is a dedicated Diamondite glass sealant).

I don't know if everyone would agree, but at my shop I almost always wash the windows first, especially if it's hot. On daily drivers, I quickly soap up all the windows and then quickly go over all the windows with triple 0 steel wool.

If you use a good soap, it will actually prevent the windows from spotting. I purposefully let the soap mostly dry on the windows because water alone will spot windows horribly on a hot day.

My exterior order:

Engine (if applicable)
body solvent/tar removal
Wheels/wheel wells/tires
windows
door/trunk jams
front bumper/bug removal
wash (going over windows again will remove dried soap)
clay
wash
dry


Does anybody else do something similar to this?
