I'm sure someone has used this method before but I just wanted to post this incase anyone is interested. There are many methods to remove dried compound/wax from plastic or rubber trim. This method worked great for me and is extremely easy!

I'm a noob at detailing, not a professional! About 6 months ago I did my very first polishing job on my new car. It turned out great but I got compound all over the plastic trim. I tried wiping it off with a cloth, didn't work. I just lived with it...until now. Yes I'm lazy.

This method is very simple. There are 2 things you need.

-Mr. Clean Magic Eraser
-IPA solution (I used 10-15% dillution)

Wet the Magic Eraser with the IPA solution and wipe/rub the plastic or rubber trim. You don't need to go crazy! Light to medium pressure, be careful not to touch the paint! The Magic Eraser is slightly abrasive.

After rubbing the trim with the eraser I used a microfiber towel and 303 Aerospace to wipe and dry the trim.

It looks almost new! Here are some pics. Remember this compound has been dried on this trim for almost 6 months! It came off in seconds!

I hope this helps anyone who has this problem! I'm a lot more careful when I'm polishing now.

Nice tip, thank you for your take of removing stubborn residue, though only suggestion would be to look into non staining waxes/sealants, and just tape trim off when you does your yearly polishing
