I've had one of those circular elementary school magnets on my car for, apparently, way too long (6-10 years). I'm sure I've taken it off over the years here and there when washing the car, but apparently it's been a while and now I can't remove it. The 'cover' of the magnet (showing the school logo) peeled of, but when I try to peel off the actual magnet from the car, it just crumbles in tiny pieces (I was actually able to first remove maybe 1/4" all around, as those pieces started to pull off magnetically, but then then broke). I could probably just keep using my finger nail to chip away tiny pieces, or perhaps slide something under it (haven't tried that yet), but just wanted to check here first for any advice.

Thanks.

p.s. please don't mind all the pollen on the car...

a heat gun and patience, keep that gun moving, long before you you risk damaging the clear coat, you will be able to lift it and work with it better, good luck and let us know how you progress

Same way you would remove an emblem:

Some lube and monofilament fishing line. Polish afterward.
