Couple of years ago took my NSX to a track event at Mid-Ohio. I had removed my windshield wipers years earlier because, well i'm a low weight NUT i'm told. But anyway it started raining at the track and put a couple of layers of RainX on the windshield. Streaked the car on the way home and seemed to work it's way into the Zymol Titanium wax. Since i also picked up about a thousand tiny spots of vaporized rubber from the guy in front of me i had to polish the entire car, even though i had just polished it. Used 3m perfect it and P21S and had all kinds of H with it as the RainX was still finding it's way into the wax even though i prepsolled the whole vehicle pretty well. I think i still have this crap on my windshield. Is there anything short of polishing that will take it off! My car is black. This problem would likely not be noticed on lighter colors. Users beware. TIA

Couple of layers? Did you read the directions?

Like most automotive products if you don't follow the directions and apply it wrong you can cause problems and even damage. Properly applied Rain-x is fabulous and does not go anywhere except your glass. It is like wax, you only apply just enough to create a film on your glass, let it haze over, then wipe off with a wet rag. Do not spray it wildly because it will screw up your wax and possibly your paint.

Spray (or pour from the small bottle) a small amount on a paper towel (away from the car) and wipe it on the glass only. Do not get it on trim, paint, or the wiper blades. If you over-apply or don't wipe off properly it will be hazy and/or greasy on the glass and will probably run onto the paint as you describe.

Sounds like you're a perfectionist, at least to some level. If you want to get the Rain-X off the windshield of your NSX then polishing it off would be the way to ensure it's 100% off. That way you don't have to worry about it into the future.

Get a dedicated glass polish, the ones we carry I've used and they all work really well...

Naptha is the best solvent I've found to totally remove RainX from auto glass.

Just keep in mind that it's highly flammable...Think Zippo lighter fluid.

I used to use Meg's Ultimate detailer on my windows, left them nice and purty. Then it would build up and streaked etc.

I found that after using different window cleaners with no results...I used my Eagle 1 All Wheel/Tire cleaner and it worked well. Of course if you get it on the paint, it strips the wax. Just like the wax on wheels if you use it.

I am dying to try the Mothers Glass cleaner stuff like Mike mentioned. Haven't found it yet in my area!
