Hey guys,
I picked up my first new car, and am lucky enough to not have and DIS's. All the car really needs is a mild claybar and some layers of protection. I have Mckees Hydro Blue and Optimum Opti-Seal that I would like to use on the car. My question is which should I apply as a base coat? All my cars are washed and protected regularly, and even in NJ winters we get one day a month that will allow us to do a quick wash/spray wax. Therefore I would like to stick with these products.

Thanks for any help!

Hydro blue is Sio2 based so its good on its own or use as topper for any coating for maintenance. Hydro blue will give you good durability for month (i have not tested this but i always use it every 3 weeks)..Opti seal is polymer based so its good topper for any sealant if i am not mistaking..Use Mckees 37 paint coating as base so easy to use and its not that expensive.. then maintain with Hydro Blue and your good for while..Use any sealant you have and top it with Opti seal if you like..I would recommend top any coating with Hydro blue and top any sealant with opti seal. dont use hydro blue as base layer to opti seal and dont use opti seal as base to hydro blue. Just my opinion..i am also from NJ winter is rough.. to me FK1000p is winner for winter protection..but this winter i will be testing mckees paint coating and hydro blue..

That does make sense. Maybe I will just keep the Hydro Blue maintained till later in the fall, and then do the regular McKees coating before winter.
