On Friday afternoon I received a call asking to restore 1 Headlight on a Hyundai Tucson. I agreed to do it first thing this morning as I had a very busy weekend already. The owner agreed to wait till Monday for me to come and do the headlight.

I knew that this was 1 of the worst I had ever seen with my 2 eyes, let alone work on :fear: I decided that I would not change anything to my procedure and treat it like ANY other headlight I have ever restored. After the restoration this is what the light looked like

I am proud to say that the headlight looks a million times better than before. ALMOST perfect. I say almost because after sanding and polishing for quite some time, I noticed the headlight lens was cracked due to too much exposure of sunlight I would guess. I notified the owner and he couldn't care about the little imperfection left in the lens after seeing what I have done with the outside.

What process & products did you use?

When sanding, how do you decide which grit to start with and how long to work the surface with each grit?

I start orr with 800 grid then move to a 1000 and tgen finish with a 1200 grid. After that I polish with Menz SF4000 untill its crystal clear and then seal the light with a UV protection coating. I can't say how long I work with each grid of sanding paper as every light differs

Thanks, very helpful

Will have to get used to using something as aggressive as 800

I am truly enjoying the 800 grid to start off with however I think I need a 1500 grid to finish before I move over to polish. I feel like I am polishing too much to get the desired result

I was just messing around. I've never polished or cleaned with Heineken but who knows it could work?
