I used a tire shine product on my 4 month old 2016 Mazda and now I need to replace a rim, need to to check the others but all I know is that the following day the clear coat on my rim started peeling away from the paint. I am reasonably sure it was due to the tire shine product.

Anyone else have this issue?

Yeah what was it? Did you use a cleaner with hydrofluoric acid or something before youvused the dressing?

Did you only apply tire shine or were there other processes done? A wheel cleaner perhaps?

Yea what'd you use to clean it? More likely culprit

My buddy and I were just talking about bubbling wheels because my wife has aftermarket wheels on her 2007 Mazda 6 and they are bubbling around the lug nut area. My buddy said Mazda has been having a problem with their wheels, there's something to this for sure. A brand new wheel shouldn't be doing this unless you used acid wheel cleaner, my wife's wheels have about 100k on them and have seen 4 winters here.

Good luck and keep us posted, doesn't hurt to gain info on things like this.

There are several wheel and tire cleaners on the market that seem to damage your wheel and tires more than help. I don't know if anyone else has had the same type of problems I had, but I'm very careful now about the products I use on my wheels and tires. I don't seem to have issues with any other type of cleaners other than these.

That sounds like something that would be covered under warranty. That would be my first course of action.

View attachment 47586Not exactly sure how to upload a photo here but will try. But the clearcoat is a plastic like coating. I am wondering if the tireshine was a silicone product and caused it to crack like Armoral?
Noticed now that it is happening to all four rims.
I used the same product on my wife's 2015 Mazda CX5 and there are no issues, but I am not sure if her clear coating is diffierent than mine.

Dealer has not called me back.
