I hate pictures of a finshed job in which the polisher is on the ground. maybe just a pet peeve of mine, but i just cant stand this. even though the pad it not touching the ground, this practice just seems shady/risky to me...

work clean people! :nomore:

thanks for listening (reading)! :dblthumb2:

Uh, what?

Where else am I supposed to set the machine down?

There's nothing shady or risky about a pad that isn't in any way touching the ground....

It bothers me when I see someone else do it. If I do it though, its ok

Hypocrite

Yep Im guilty as well. I see nothing wrong with it. The pad is not touching the ground so Im not sure how it is bad/shady/hack work. Maybe if you have a really dirty/dusty floor and you have a strong fan going that is blowing the stuff up then it could pose a problem but I think you would have that problem whether the polisher was rested on the floor or not.

It bothers me to, only in my own pictures, I'm not willing to say anything about others pictures. Usually I try to clean everything up for final pictures, but sometimes time is so tight and I still want to grab some after pictures.

Well I'm guilty as charged of this one. Was it my recent thread that caused this one? Just curious cause I know I had a finished pic with my Flex sitting on the ground (pad up). Sorry but I don't have any where else to put it some times.

I am guilty of snapping afters before I pick up everything. I try to but usually come across my camera as I'm starting to clean up. So I snap a couple pics and then go back to cleaning.

Don't know why, but I guess if that was the original complaint on this I can see the point. One thing I do plan on improving on is keeping my detailing area clean. All too many times I have my supplies all laying around.

try not to do it. but dam guy dont you have any thing better to say. live and let live. If hes working for you ok then.

I dont see a problem stting the buffer on the ground, pad facing up. So you have never ever set your buffer on the ground.

what do you do with it while wiping polish of, walking away from the job for a moment.

I tend to do this all the time also... Pad up or off the machine... I could see if stuff was falling onto the pad but honestly how often does that happen?

i see pictures all the time like this. of course the detailer himself only knows how careful he is about keeping the pad clean.

yes, it is your business/hobby/life, but i guess just be careful because potential customers are lurking here(i got a headlight restoration job via a lurker on here). i had one customer tell me that he had a guy do some work for him for real cheap and the guy would place the polisher on the ground. he stopped the guy and left mid job. he was willing to spend the the extra $$$ with me just because of the attention to detail.

as mentioned above, yes keep the floor clean and work clean, but it is all about the details. treat evey car like it is your own car, even if it is just a DD or grocery getter. if this topic doesnt matter to you, feel on scrolling.

if someone saw something in one of my pictures that raised an eyebrow, i would hope that they would say something about it as well. arent we here to learn from each other? looks like i ruffled some feathers none the less even though no names were mentioned and no fingers were pointed.

time to get back to getting this car cleaned up :buffing: <----oops, pad hit the ground

i see alot of people have no problem with this. just like some people keep using clay that hits the ground and looks clean. i dont.

i have never set the polisher on the ground. working in food industry and detailing as a hobby, the floor = dirty. even though u could eat off my garage floor i have been told(i wouldnt though:hungry:)

i have a storage bin that contains all my pads that i have follow me(i move) around the car with me as i polish. i am constantly wiping this bin off before setting the polisher down pad up. maybe i am paranoid. i want to purchase a utility cart(like they have at the AG showroom garage). looks more professional and rolls with me.

I'm guilty as charged but try and use the cart I picked up at Sam's Club. I guess thats what happens living in a imperfect world. As far as the comment about dropping clay, I never hesitate in tossing it.

I do it all the time..Doesnt bother me cause the pad always faces up and nothing gets on it..if it would fall over I will just pull pad and put on a new one. havnt had that happen yet..Although I actually put mine on a towel or something cause I dont like machine to get all beat up either from the ground..I like keeping my tools mint looking as well.
