How about this beaut? Picked her up today and cannot wait to learn how to properly use it. I got a right bargain on it, I just couldn't pass it up. Gotta love Staples!

I am selling my Sony DSC-F707 which I am still extremely fond of. It's on Craigslist...

And yes, I really need to take some pics of my supplies. It's been growing steadily! I am thinking about washing the truck tomorrow, I'll take some pics then...
 
Yeah, I saw that deal in the ads, great price! I tried to get my dad to look at it. He wants a Nikon D80, but it's running a grand for just the body. I think that Rebel is a great camera from what I've read.

get a tripod. it will make your learning curve on focusing it drop slightly for stills. [cars]
 
Let's talk about the deal: it was originally $799. Then it was for sale last week for $699. I found out on Friday (I'm on the Staples "friends" list for some reason) that it was going to go for $550 on Sunday. I also had a coupon for 12% off anything in the store and $40 in gift cards.

I ended up paying $502 incuding a 1GB Ultra II CF card. Not bad!!!

I have a film Canon but would like to go ditigal.
I have a 170-500MM Sigma which is a great lens for the races.
I need to replace a 28-200MM which is also a very good all around lens.

Stittville: they sent it to me by email on Friday, so I just printed it off and took it to the store! I bought the camera in a small Texas town, so they didn't give me grief about using it on an item that was already heavily discounted. I LOVED IT!

Nice camera, P1et! I think my next digital camera will be an SLR.

I was looking into the D80 as well. Gray market ones can be had for around $480 for the body alone...tempting.

Not really necessary. The lens is more important.

Next step up from the XT is the XTi, which is 10mp.

None unless you print very large pictures.

I have an 8MP Nikon and the pictures are huge. I always have to reduced to about 25-30% of their original size just to email them to someone. When I first got the camera I keep emailing pictures to people without reducing them and filling up the mail box real quick. I'm sure the pictures on a 10MP camera will be really huge. It would be nice if you really want to have some huge enlargements made.
