I bought the porter cable 7424xp as everyone suggested along with some lake country pads to remove some swirls.

It didn't work!

I used Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Medium-Cut Cleaner with orange pad and Meguiar's M9 Mirror Glaze Swirl Remover with white pad.

I am not too sure if the swirls get better because they are still there.

All I want is to get my car swirls free, and trust me I watched lots of videos and read a lot of threads.

Now I want to start over again, please help me choose the pads and the compounds that will work.

Also I am using 5.5 inch backing plate with 6.5 pads, does that work or do I need 6 inch backing plate?

my shopping list:
Step 1: Meguiar's M105 Compound on orange pads
Step 2: Meguiar's M205 Polish on white pads
Step 3: Meguiar nxt 2.0 on black pads

or

Step 1: Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover 3.0 on orange pads
Step 2: Wolfgang Finishing Glaze 3.0 on white pads
Step 3: Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0 on black pads

or

Step 1: Poorboy's World SSR 3 on yellow pads
Step 2: Poorboy's World SSR 2.5 on orange pads
Step 3: Poorboy's World SSR 1 on white pads

or

Your suggestions

Any one has any idea which combo works best on BMW white cars for swirl removal? Thank you!!

I know this been discussed millions of times but please help me rather than tell me to use search.

My swirls sort look like this(not my car)

I really like the WG combo, I just purchased them and used them on my 2003 Xterra, swirl free now. I would throw in the Menz FG400 it's fantastic!

I would go with Menz or Meg's. Also I would go with a 5 inch BP and 5.5 pads. German cars are known for hard paint. You still need to do a test spot though.

The PC is great, but with 6.5 pads correction is going to be minimal on a hard paint surface.

I would think about Meg's MF system or Menz FG and SF 4000 and some LC pads.

Does this BMW have the Ceramiclear?

You could go with the Merenza Ceramic Intro kit which has SI 1500 and SF4000 or you could get the complete ceramic kit which has 5.5 pads and the foamed wool pad.

I used it on my Benz. Works well.

Can you elaborate more on the technique you used with a PC, like your speed setting, pressure, arm speed etc. were you certain that the backing plate was spinning and not jiggling?

As a noob, here is my advice. I had the same problem starting out. Problem being, shiny paint, but I can still see swirls and water spots. I switched from 6.5" pads to 5.5" pads with a 5" backing plate and got the results I hoped for.
If you change something, only change one thing at a time. Meaning, change pad sizes, but still use the same products. Also pay attention to the rotational speed. Make sure the pad is rotating and not just shaking.
With 5.5" pads, I have better control of the machine, which allows me to take my time and concentrate on the task at hand.

As you found the mirror glaze medium cut cleaner won't do much on BMW paint. Personally out of your cart I am a fan of the 105 and 205 combo. You most likely won't need 105 but it's always nice to have around.

This guy must be might confused by now.

Sir, purchase the Meguiar's DA Correction system. It is a simple, easy to use setup that will take much of the mystery out of what people are telling you.

Also... I'm not sure why so many people always suggest 105 for someone new to machine polishing. It is a finicky, heavy dusting, low work time compound that has a high learning curve. There are literally a dozen compounds out there easier for a new detailer to use than 105.

Flame suit on.

You can waste your time purchasing every product out there or purchase a rotary - cut it with most any compound, then polish with DA and most any polish. Rotary, DA, Protect - that simple.

I'm not sure I would recommend a rotary polisher to a new detailer? He's just looking for a simple product recommendation not buying a whole new machine and all the related system products.

Sorry - I read "I just need a simple answer please". He can and will most likely go through tons of products using just a DA. Simple = Rotary,DA,Protect. Rotary + almost any compound available to date + DA with any polish to date = simple swirl free remedy..... or if you want complicated there are TONS of different combos and pads made for your DA that will maybe work lol. I think He'll spend less money on the rotary before he gets through those swirls with the recommendations most will give him on here. Just my opinion of course. :buffing:

105 205 should work pretty good you may need to step up to a more aggressive pad though like a lake country yellow or the hybrid pads. Good luck man and let us know how it turns out!!

I have a 535i with Alpine White and the clear is extremely hard. I found that Poor Boys SSR3 would remove some swirls but it still left many. I am in the middle a full correction on the car right now using Mezerna FG400 and a LC cyan pad. That combination is working great for me but I am still having to check my work and going over some areas more than once. I am about 6 hours in on just the correction (not including washing and taping) and I think I am about half complete. After I finish with the FG400 I will be going back over the car with SF4000. I am sure that more experienced people will chime in but that has been my experience with Alpine White.

Mike P uses DA's all day long on his corrections, including the live broadcast tonight. Leaving it at that.

Welcome to AGO.

I would go with Wolfgang's new Uber compound/orange pad and finishing glaze/white pad.

Don't bother with M105. It gives new users headaches as VP Mark pointed out at the top.

Thanks guys, really appreciate the help.

I picked up a 8oz M105 and Meguiar's DMC5 5" DA Microfiber Cutting Disc at a local store to try it out(30 bucks), I am surprised they actually worked, a lot of swirls were removed but still a few deep ones left.

Am I using the right pad? it was suggested by the local store and I wonder if there is an better option for the pad to get 100% swirl free. Thanks
