Garmin Nuvi. I bought one for my wife cause of ease of use and reliability. I have a Acura with the tech package and I still prefer the garmin Nuvi.

Garmin Nuvi 5LM - 5" screen, lifetime map updates, ~$125. Easy to use, accurate.

I have a Tomtom 1535 live. This come with a one year subscription for the traffic subscription and lifetime maps. The service after the year is only $60.00. It is a good unit with a large display. It runs around 125 to 150.

The Garmins are very easy to use--that's all I've had but before I bought my first one I asked someone who's used many and they suggested Garmin so that's what I went with and as BigBull noted, it's way better than my OEM (GM) one.

I am on my third Garmin. All the old ones still work fine.

I just want the latest and greatest, so when a new one shows up at Costco I give my old one away to a friend.

None of them have ever failed. New one is a 5 inch Nuvi #2460LMT

I can't recommend TomTom. My wife and I are borderline fanatical about caring for the things we own as we hate having to buy something twice. With minimal use, the charging dock no longer provides a snug fit for the charger, so, without notice it'll just shut off in the middle of a trip because it unknowingly wasn't staying charged. I have no idea if Garmans tend to lose signal when in large cities, but ours does regularly. We just borrowed my in-law's TomTom for a trip this weekend and we ran into the same signal loss issues. We'll be going with a Garmin when we decide to purchase another.

Wow thanks for the fast replies.Garmin it is then, sounds like the Nuvi is the newest and I guess a good all around model will be about $125.00

Like wise on my second Garmin nuvi. Wife got an updated one, the old one is in my truck now. The new one has free map udates for life, she got it for half prices at a Shopko on sale. Costco has them too, and Sams club.
