I need help removing these hideous spots from dash trim piece. Please help!

I have these horrendous spots/stains on my passenger side airbag cover in my 2013 Mustang. They appear to be the result of cheap interior cleaner/protectant. I have tried some suggestions I've read on other posts (like dawn, peanut butter, mineral spirits, and cleanup wipes) but nothing I've tried has even touched them! I really need some suggestions on how to remove them!! Thank you in advance!

Looks like you have already tried all of the WORST suggestions possible.

Generally, for interior plastics I would suggest Automotive Specific All Purpose Cleaner (APC) diluted 10 parts water mixed with one part APC. I like Optimum Power Clean, but there are lots of good ones out there.

This 1st step will ensure that you are working with a clean surface.

As a 2nd step, I suggest a high quality, automotive specific, interior plastic dressing. Many of the over-the-counter products are actually very good. There is a thread on OTC dressings on the Forum. I have seen good results with the Mother's VLR product at ART Hernandez' Detailing Den in Pomona, CA

Here is what I would try in that order

1) A better interior cleaner/protectant with a long pile MF (to get in the texture).....and call it a day (if that works)!
2) APC diluted with agitation (to get into the texture)
3) APC undiluted followed by neutralization with H2O

and most likely would coat with Dlux so never to have that problem again
 
I think that I'm having similar issues with my dash. I used a terrible product and have minimal luck getting it out of the small crevices in the textured dash.

Please update with new photos if you are able to remove this, I would love to know what works!
 
Agree with the APC suggestions. Also, realize that one attempt may not be enough. I have heard of people washing their trim 6-7 times with APC before they are successful in removing greasy contaminants.
 
1z deep plastic cleaner is the best product to clean any kind of plastic.
 
just a quick update guys. First of all thank you for your replies/suggestions! I have some APC coming in the mail any day now so I'll keep you updated on results and product/method used. Thanks

I can't wait...I have a 2011 Gt with the same dang problem. I hope it works!! Please post before/after photos!

Just get the 1Z Deep Plastic Cleaner. This stuff is really good on interior and exterior trim. Wear gloves though as it makes the skin on my hands feel and smell weird for a few hours afterwards.
 
Give a spray of plastic cleaner with some steam and you'll be surprised what you can clean. If you have a steamer.

It almost looks like some sort of grease stain. APC with a tooth-brush should work. Looking forward to seeing the results!

Id be on the same process here but I would try steam before the apc if I was working on it.
