Had a pretty interesting idea that I've not seen on here before. Thought I would throw it out to other people on here and look for feed back.

Underbody Carriage Washing:
Buy an adjustable pressure washer nozzle, use the lowest PSI setting and lightly blast under areas of the car (maybe only on new cars). I know a lot of people ask about this feature. For anyone going mobile, is there anyone who already does something like this? If so, what are your methods?

I was thinking this could have its drawbacks in the fact that: You could blast or breaks rusted sections underneith the car (Cats, pipes, exhaust, etc...) or if they already have a cleanish engine bay, blow water up on the hood and it would drip on the engine and spot it.
 
I do something similar but with my foam gun and one of those extended nozzles I bought at home depot.

Start with APC @ 10:1 with the foam gun to foam the undercarriage. Then let sit for a few minutes and rinse with a fan spray and an extended nozzle to get the APC off. Works great and leaves the undercarriage pretty clean without scrubbing.
 
On ideas about being different, and I don't detail for a living, but may I suggest that when you do a MAJOR detail on a car you GIVE the customer everything he/she needs to maintain the car until the next detail, if they schedule it. That is of course, if the customer is not a car wash person. This would include the car wash soap, the detail spray, microfiber washing mitt, the microfiber drying cloths, etc. And add that to the price of the detail at cost. People love to get "free stuff" and they will use it. If you buy in bulk then you could even put the stuff in bottles with your business name on them :).

I did that as part of a contest on another forum I moderate. Mothers sponsored it and I used all Mothers products on the car. At the same time I taught the owner proper care and gave them everything they needed.

It got me a couple of more details down the road.

OP, underbody flush was discussed here a month or so ago. Attachments are actually made for pressure washers that are made to do this. Check out eBay.

I do something similar, call it a goodie bag, which is a ziplock bag filled with a mf towel, and opti clean in a small spray bottle, to clean off bird crap and bugs to extend the life of the wax/sealant or opti coat, small enough to fit in their glove box, then i recommend car washing stuff but don't give it to them
 
I already thought about ideas to educate customers with a basic info pamphlet at the end of a detail. Possibly offer a small cleaning package for daily maintenance with or after the detail. This actually came up in a thread of mine months back for this idea, I think it's a good way to help customers show that you care more about them than just the business. I always like to make things feel more natural than just a business transaction.

Could just do a small kit and charge what it'd cost for each item to cover the overhead and not take a loss. Could care less about profit if it keeps people coming back.

For people with really nice cars, I've considered possibly buying a couple of these and using it as a small $5 over upcharge: Sun blockers for windshields. Always have a couple and offer to see if they'd want to buy one. I think it'd be a good idea. What do you guys think? Help out AG and the customer at the same time :xyxthumbs:
