In praise of Sonax BSD

This really isn't a true review, but some praise is definitely due for an AG product I'm very impressed with. Recently, I did my winter prep on my new-to-me Buick DD. A triple stack of DG105, DG111 and Colli 915 should hopefully keep my first Black DD decent thru the winter with minimum maintenance. This past Saturday, it got an ONR wash at work, then parked in the garage after a 7 mile commute while I drove my Camino for what will likely be the last nice weekend before winter. Before switching cars Sunday night, I decided to give it a wipe down. Since the dust was light enough to get by with a QD, my previously unused Sonax BSD got a test drive. Monday morning, parked in the bright sunshine at work, I could see the "pop" of the 915 that had diminished in two weeks of rainy weather had returned. This morning brought another pleasant surprise. It had rained overnight and after my commute to work, the car looked nearly as good as before the rain. I've been using DGAW and Opt Wax as drying aids but it looks like there's a new contender on the shelf-Sonax BSD.

Have only used it as a top up, but hear it's really great as a drying aid.
 
Ouch! Those wheel wells stick-out like a sore thumb against that nice paint.

They sure do!

I've been working 6-day weeks, so detailing time has been at a premium, not to mention it gets dark by 6PM nowadays. Got her polished a bit and well protected, but the rest will have to come little by little whenever time allows.

I was using BSD today too. It's pretty much my go to in the winter. I give it:

7 / 10 gloss

10 / 10 hydrophobics

8 / 10 ease of use

9 / 10 value

9 / 10 durability

4 / 10 smell (smells like old socks)
 
Mine smells like coconuts, it's kinda nice. ( not the old socks version though)
 
One of the most impressive products on the market. Great self-cleaning and lasts forever.

I agree except like guesless the couple bottles I have gone through smell like coconut. Did you do something odd with your BSD?

Unfortunately I can't use it most of the year due to high temperature and humidity, it feels more like thick spray sealant than a quick detailer..

Try it as a drying aid and see if that works for you.

How does using BSD as a drying aid affect the MF towel's absorbency the next time it's used? I've used other products as drying aids and even after just one use they basically impregnated and waterproofed the towel rendering it useless for future drying. Even after machine washing the towel, it was never the same. TIA

Are you using a dedicated MF detergent? You should also boil your MFs regularly based upon soil level and frequency of use. I use Micro Restore and it is great. MFs are fluffy and not grabby.
 
One of my favorite products on my shelf. SPNS topped with BSD every few washes is as good if not better than a coating. The paint cleans itself.
 
sounds similar to my new favorite QD/spray sealant - sonus acrylic glanz. I wonder how they actually compare?

I have yet to find anything that will top the water handling characteristics of these 2 (BSD and PNS that is).
