Hey guys, I started a detailing business about 4-5 months ago. It started out pretty slow but lately the phone keeps ringing and I'm getting pretty steady business!

I'm 22 years old and work out of my driveway.. My garage isn't big enough to work inside of so I've been looking at alternate options as the weather cools down and winter approaches here in New York.

I discovered inflatable garages and thought they were pretty cool. I've gotten some estimates and I would spend between $900-$1200. (I'll put the link below)

I think it would be a pretty good investment but I would like to get everyone's opinion. As it gets colder I could run an electric space heater to stay warm(er) while detailing. Also, once winter passes I'm thinking about offering a Mobile Detailing service. I think having the inflatable garage would be a great way to attract customers. I could get my business name and number put on the side to hopefully inform people driving by..

One of my main concerns is where could I blow this big garage up?? There is a fairly large plaza where I live with a main highway that runs right by.. They have a lot of extra parking right next to the road that is rarely used but I don't know if whoever owns/manages that property would even consider allowing me to put the garage there.. I guess I will just have to ask and find out! The worst he can say is no, right?

Well, thanks for taking the time to read this I hope I can get some good feedback.

I just have to find one first... Inflatable girls just aren't as classy as they used to be.

Interesting. No doubt getting attention wouldn't be a problem with that.
But you say your thinking of going mobile? If you head in that direction will this 1k investment be practical for going mobile or will it be sitting gathering dust? And in summer that thing could be a sauna!
Take it from me working in the 100+ degree Texas heat. Why not get a ez up tent. Would be a faction of the cost still offering shade and you could purchase a large banner (also inexspensive) and hang it from tent for advertising.
I've been mobile since I've started my biz and there's are lots of things you could invest in to make your mobile work easier and more effecient. Just my 2 cents :D

I don't like the idea. That thing is really strange. If your looking to put it somewhere then that is not mobile detailing.

This is the advice I needed! The sauna is an excellent point. I was just looking for an option mainly to provide cover during winter months but I think i'm going to look into something else.

I have to agree with everything said above. There are also temporary garages that are semipermanent like the ezup tents that would probably work better and it's cheaper too.

Some tents offer side covering or throw your own on there. Tarp or heavy duty blankets.

You would spend a week airing that thing up and who knows how many compressors would burn up. Could fill it with helium, that would make you mobile.

That thing looks awesome!!! I have a bounce house that I got for the kids that I found for dirt cheap on Craigslist (was cheaper to buy than rent for a party) and I can tell you that they blow up super fast. If you get one of those high-volume fans specially made for the bounce houses I bet it would blow up in like 5 mins or less.

If you could work out a deal with a local shopping center or something to use a corner of their high-traffic parking lot, get a generator and a water tank and pump and you would be all set. Sure it would be a different direction from going mobile but think of how much attention you would get if you put your business name and number on the side of one of those!!??

Even just using this at a client's location it would be a HUGE attraction for anyone driving/walking by.

Ya I am going to go the e-z up tent route.. Just have to figure out what a good size would be. I like the idea of making my own temporary sides... As for the helium idea... I may go the hot air balloon route for my detailing business, my logo will be seen for miles and I won't have to deal with traffic.

It would definitely be an attraction! I will check craigslist like you did and see if there are any cheap ones in the area.. slim chance but doesn't hurt to check. However like the guys above said I don't know if it would pay off.
