Initial Impressions: Pinnacle Liquid Souverän - New Formula

Introduction:

Almost felt like it was a scene from a movie: Got a PM from Nick. "Would you like to try the new Liquid Souverän? It will blow your mind." How can you say "no" to that?

Of course, it does then set expectations high. I don't typically use liquid waxes. I don't think I even have another liquid wax. Further, I am in the middle of an on-going infatuation with the new WOWA (Wipe On Walk Away) sealants. So I am predisposed to be a difficult critic.

He also didn't state how I would be rocked. Would the finish be other-worldly? Super slick? Easy to apply? Remove? No dusting? Smell nice? (Note - I didn't read the copy on the AG website until I copied it into this review. Not then even. ;) )

Thanks to Corey again for providing the format.

From Autogeek.net site - Finally Liquid Souveran Wax achieves the Pinnacle of Perfection. Liquid Souveran Carnauba Wax has the ease of a liquid wax with the protection and

"New Formula is thicker and contains more crystalline polymers for added durability, gloss and slickness!

Liquid Souverän Car Wax achieves the Pinnacle of paint perfection!

Pinnacle Liquid Souverän Car Wax is the quintessential example of the sizzling shine and winter-tough durability that liquid carnauba car waxes are capable of when formulated using advanced chemistry. Pinnacle Liquid Souverän Car Wax features Brazil’s highest grade carnauba wax fused with Pinnacle’s signature crystalline polymers that were developed right here in south Florida. This advanced blend of high-grade Brazilian carnauba wax and advanced polymers delivers a deep, dazzling shine and a length of paint protection that was once exclusive to synthetic paint sealants.

Pinnacle Liquid Souverän Car Wax is formulated using the maximum amount of carnauba wax possible in a liquid formula. Before the carnauba wax is liquefied it goes through a refining process that was originally developed exclusively for Pinnacle’s flagship Souverän Paste Wax. After the carnauba wax is refined and all the impurities are removed, Pinnacle’s proprietary crystalline polymers are then fused with the wax. This unique blending process makes Pinnacle Liquid Souverän Car Wax unlike any other liquid car wax available.

Pinnacle’s signature crystalline polymers strengthen the wax’s bond to the surface when applied to the paint. These polymers cross-link on the surface, forming a strong bond that lasts months, not weeks. While the crystalline polymers act to strengthen the carnauba wax at its core, they also provide a glossy, reflective shine that compliments the deep, warm glow of the carnauba wax. Your vehicle’s paint will have superb depth, richness, and clarity that is unmistakably Pinnacle.

Key Features:

Closely mimics the look of Souverän™ Carnauba Paste Wax
Maximum amount of carnauba available in a liquid wax
3-D, wet-looking shine
Haze and streak resistant
Lasts up to 4 months
Can be layered
No white chalk, wipes off wet
Advanced crystalline polymers provide winter-tough protection

Pinnacle Liquid Souverän Car Wax provides excellent paint protection in any environment. Carnauba car waxes aren’t typically known for being durable because of their low melting point but Liquid Souverän Car Wax was developed and tested in south Florida – one of the most intense areas on the planet for sun exposure. Pinnacle Liquid Souverän Car Wax provides excellent UV protection and has a melting point that far exceeds that of a typical carnauba car wax. Pinnacle Liquid Souverän Car Wax provides the type of paint protection that used to be reserved for synthetic paint sealants, but without the artificial shine. You could say that Pinnacle Liquid Souverän Car Wax gives you the best of both worlds – the deep, wet shine of a carnauba wax and the winter-tough durability of a paint sealant – in an easy to use liquid wax.

The advanced crystalline polymers found in Liquid Souverän Car Wax create an immense amount of surface tension so water beads up and rolls off. This surface tension also works to repel sleet and snow, leaving your vehicle cleaner during the winter months. The crystalline polymers were also formulated to provide a tough barrier against road salt, bugs, tar, bird droppings and other airborne contaminants. Pinnacle Liquid Souverän Car Wax provides the utmost in paint protection without sacrificing the deep, dazzling shine that users of Pinnacle waxes have become accustomed to.

Durability and ease of use are two traits that are not usually expected in a liquid carnauba car wax. Pinnacle Liquid Souverän Car Wax was formulated to be exceptionally easy to apply and remove, even in humid climates (remember, it was developed and tested in south Florida!). Liquid Souverän Car Wax won’t stain plastic trim and it won’t dust or flake when you wipe it off. Liquid Souverän Car Wax can be applied by hand or with a machine!

Pinnacle Liquid Souverän Car Wax is a pure wax and doesn’t contain any cleaners or abrasives. For best results, use Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion before you apply Liquid Souverän Car Wax. Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion is a non-abrasive paint cleanser that removes previously applied waxes and other impurities, enhancing the paint’s gloss. It will leave the paint squeaky clean so when Liquid Souverän Car Wax is applied, you’ll achieve the maximum depth of shine and durability.

Don’t sacrifice the deep, warm carnauba glow in the name of durability! Thanks in part to its Brazilian carnauba wax and advanced crystalline polymers, Pinnacle Liquid Souverän Car Wax provides superior paint protection without sacrificing the sizzling shine that Pinnacle wax enthusiasts have come to know and love."

Other Products Used:

GG6
Blue Pad
Flat weave MF
Plush MF

Preparation:

Foamed my car with Pinnacle XMT Gel Shampoo & Conditioner and rinsed. Followed with a rinseless using Pinnacle Liquid Gloss Rinseless Wash.

Application:

Applied with my GG6. Light mist of Pinnacle Crystal Mist on the pad, a couple of small dabs of Pinnacle Liquid Souverän and spread on speed 3 for 3 cross-hatched passes. Let dry to haze (passes swipe test - maybe 5 minutes). Wipe off using Mike's "Creep Out" method. Follow with the "Final Pass" - a slow-motion wipe down with a MF.

Observations:

OK light smell. The lingering (awesome) Pinnacle Liquid Gloss Rinseless overwhelmed any scent I could detect. Is actually thick enough to be a little difficult to get out of the bottle. Very easy to apply and spreads very far. 3 pea sized drops did half of my hood. Easy to remove with almost no dusting. Maybe not quite as effortless as Prima Amigo but not much harder. Beautiful finish that has deep, 3D reflections.

No pics yet - through the camera lens, my car looks much the same but I can tell the difference in the sharpness of the reflections. Also I will be applying Pinnacle Liquid Souverän to a much more interesting test subject next weekend. Look for updates (I believe that is called a "tease".)

Does it meet its claims? I guess this means now I have to actually read the AG copy. Blah, blah, wax, blah, polymers, blah, blah.... OK, yes, I would have to agree with what they wrote. Obviously, I can't say anything about durability yet (and my car being OptiCoated is not a great test vehicle for that - even if it wasn't coated, it would get something on it long before Pinnacle Liquid Souverän was gone).

Pros:

1.- Deep, glossy finish
2.- Very slick
3.- Easy to apply & remove
4.- Nearly dustless
5.- Light scent.

???:

1.- Durability. My indirect indicator of the durability of a WOWO wax/sealant is how hard is it to clean the pad I applied it with. Took three spritz, massage and rinse cycles with Pinnacle XMT Pad Cleaner to finally get the pad clean. Durability should be pretty good.
2.- Dust collection. There is so much dust in Central TX that low dust attraction is a definite plus.

Cons:

1.- None.

Final Observations and Summary:

I really liked Pinnacle Liquid Souverän. The finish that was left behind was extremely impressive looking and very slick. Pinnacle Liquid Souverän looks really good on my car and I think the car I've picked for the pic update will really shine (pun intended - hey, if they can use one in their copy, so can I).

Did it "blow my mind?" For a liquid wax non-believer, Pinnacle Liquid Souverän came pretty close.

Will I forgo my beloved WOWAs for it? No, but I can envision several tasty combinations that I want to try.

Highly recommended.

Hey Mike,

Nice review! :props:

I'm always interested in new products and hearing from those who actually use them and their opinion....

Thanks Mike! :dblthumb2:

I m saving up for my next big order, which would include the Waterless wash and this!!

Thank you for the nice review.

I am curious what your favorite WOWA sealants are? I have not tried this type of LSP and I am wondering where to start.

Nice review. I didn't like the old version as it had about 10 min worth of durability here in NEPA. Maybe this one will be better????

Nice review Mike. I have a bottle of the older Liquid Souveran. I can't wait to do a comparison to the new formula.

Very nice review Mike. I appreciate that you stayed in the Pinnacle lineup before applying Pinnacle Liquid Souverän.

Have used the older version of Liquid Souveran on our gold metallic ML350. Last waxing was in August and the car still beaded up nicely and shined beautifully, even after going through Hurricane Sandy. I have been very impressed with the product. I plan on giving the car one more coat before winter sets in. If it can make it through to March I will be really impressed.

Very nice review Mike. I appreciate that you stayed in the Pinnacle lineup before applying Pinnacle Liquid Souverän.

Thanks Ben.

I tend to stay "in the family" on my first try of a product to minimize any adverse results. And as Pinnacle is extremely good stuff, I need little excuse to use those products.
