inspired by KISS Detail - Extreme Makeover- Toyota Highlander

Hi Mike - as the title states I was inspired to finally do something with my 2006 Highlander - yes its white and has the same dull hood.

It is a daily driver but I would like it to look decent. So I washed it down, did the clay bar and got it all smooth. Then I went off piste and polished it with meguiar's mirror glaze #6 with a ryobi rb60 fitted with a wool bonnet. it beads beautifully but did nothing to fix the dull paint.

So what can I do now to correct the paint?

Did I mess it up too badly already?

Could it be done by hand or shoudl I just bite the bullet and get a porter cable 7424xp.

notice in the hood 3 photo there are some round defects, that was a well intentioned relative removing bird droppings with a paper towel...

Thanks for your advice and the inspiration.

I'd like to get good at this so I can keep my recently aquired 2015 cayman in good condition.

:dunno:

The problem is the tool you're using is to slow and in-effective. This is called a,

Wax Spreader

It's only good for spreading out a non-cleaning wax to paint in perfect condition.

This is what you get for $35.00

Plus - no way to put other pads on that use the normal VELCRO system all worthy polishers use.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money to take care of your Toyotoa Highlander or your Porsche Cayman, then your two best options are,

Porter Cable 7424XP
Griot's Garage G9

Then get some foam "polishing" pads and some BLACKFIRE One Step.

You'll love the results.
