I'm considering starting a string of YouTube videos strictly detailing business related, and I'm wanting to gauge interest and participation before I put my very short in supply time and effort into it. There are tons of videos/write-ups about product and technique, but very few about actual business methods for start-ups or otherwise.

I'm not the Renny Doyle of detailing by any way shape or form, but I have created a successful one man operation from the ground up in a very small market. I have tried literally almost every trick in the book business related and after 4 years feel like I have a strong pulse on what is successful and not successful for the small detailing start-up.

Well, would you watch them, maybe share them with others and support the venture?

Would you laugh at me hysterically(that would actually be kind of fun)?

Am I a quack?

Did you immediately click to a thread about some random wax after you read this?

If people are interested, I would begin working on a frame work and topic list...

You've got a limited (but growing) audience.

I for one would be very interested, but I understand it's a huge time commitment. I'm not a social sharer type but I would absolutely subscribe to the channel.

I just bought Renny Doyle's book. I would be very interested in more info and videos.

I would definitely watch and share.

I am in for sure, I always enjoy your posts so I am sure the videos would be beneficial to many!

Sounding good so far.. any topics of conversation that would be particularly of interest? I have a whole list complied in my head but would love some suggestions.

You're one of the users on AGO that I most like to read tips and recommendations from in threads. I always take your advice when you say it, so I'd definitely watch.

This might sound stupid but I would be curious to see how you upsell or just sell to people in general. I am not a good salesman by any stretch of the imagination, and I like to let my work speak for itself, but I always feel like there are some clients that never end up getting work done because I don't know how to ask for their business correctly. It feels like any time I say something about work they might consider having done it comes across... insulting.

I would watch them. I'm always interested in how businesses evolve and run. The shortcomings, advertising that doesn't work, which business plans to pursue according to ones needs. I actually like to hear more about people's mistakes just as much as successes.
I'll grab some chips and a drink to sit down and learn how I can get to Shineville...oh wait that's Junkman.

Definitely would be interested Mark! That sounds like a cool venture for you. I know what it's like when you say you're limited on time, but if you have the time and want to do it, I'd definitely watch.

If you're on Instagram I'd help cross promote on there if you want. There's a ton of awesome detailers on there and I'm sure some would be interested.

Id watch until you started saying you did this and you are that and your wife said this. Just keep it on topic unlike some others I have seen clips of that you mentioned.

I'd definitely watch them! I watch all detailing videos, even the auto fetish Darren priest channel

Lol, this is actually a great piece of info. Not that planned on going off topic, but many people do get a big head when the reach the amazing milestone of 120 viewers and start to think everyone is interested in their personal lives.

I would love to see that,, just of the top of my head

Talking points:
Where and how you starting?
Gauging the market you are in?
What to prepare for?
finding the medium where its the best products for efficiency and cost effective for your specific market and offerings?
Growth, plans for expansion?
The grand debate when starting is insurance, incorporation etc.?
employees, or keeping it a one man operation?
Knowing your customer in regards to up sell, how far you chase a RIDS on a 1 step polish, professionalism in marketing?
Understanding the difference of part time, side work, then full-time detailing?

If you ever wanna chat PM me, I think as someone on your level you could relate to the struggles of how detailing is not truly defined and how there is no consistency in lingo, and how the word detailing is thrown around and has lost its meaning due to car washes and hacks overall.

Im not in the business and I would watch for sure. This stuff intrigues me and would be enjoyable. Hey you never know how many people will pick up detailing as a side job from watching your videos. Sometimes that's all it takes to get the wheels turning in your mind.

No, just no. That guy has the personality of a dead fish and I got tired of his stories after one video. I think he averages 90% boring story with 10% actual work.

Same here, starting on Renny's book, but always welcome to
new sources of knowledge. I say, do it, I'll watch and share.

Peace,

Darrin

Absolutely, I'd love to see something like that!

I actually like his videos, to me his the only on that really talks about the business and about more efficient things really.. only think I don't like are his videos really long and he doesn't really get to the point on some of his videos, other than that they are great video
