now im not all to sure what exactly ive done to my brothers firebird....all ive done is full tune up,oil change, coolant flush and water pupm replacement.......prior to tonight we would range between 20-23.444 seconds in the 1/4 mile at 4000 ft above sea level in his 3.4L v6.....tonight by some twist of fate with relativly the same track conditions i managed to run a consistant 17.9 in it.....is it because i was busy nit picking about the swirl marks that made me run faster ? idk......but im pretty sure our musical horn blaring dixie ( think general lee) prior to ever run gave me 100 rwhp :) (joke).....

just thought id share....

your paint finish is so smooth, meaning less wind resistance, better aerodynamics.

sounds good! probibly has more to do with the temprature and humidity as well night time and a good detailing job you have done to the car! Andrew

probably so slippery it just streamed thru the quarter :p

I would think that a 17.9 is just about where an unmodded V6 Firebird should be at altitude. I've got no idea what you're doing with a 20 plus second 1/4 mile. What were your 60' times?

Removing swirls between shifts :D

seriously.... 23 second 1/4 time is terrible! ...a honda could do better!i shudder at the thought but its true

I do 0-60 in an 8000lbs Expedition in 10.78sec at 5400ft above sea level, Gotta love smooth paint, LOL.....:righton:

the car has a real bad sputter to it that i cant figure out since i cant pull the ses codes....but i got the light to go off by revving it pretty good in the lineup last night :)

Most auto part stores have loaners, so you can read the CEL codes...:)

autozone was telling me they cant read it since its obd1

Booo, on them.. Check around at another Autoparts store, Autozone has read codes for me on my old OBD1 Ford Bronco...

Worth a try, or you can usually buy a cheap scanner OBD1 for under $40, Cheaper than the Stealership...

I worked at Advance Auto so here's a tip (my stang is OBD1) they need to use a seperate power source, have them use the cig lighter for power or have them connect the diagnostic machine to the battery for power. With out it will not read codes just errors, good luck
