I have a 2016 Silverado LTZ we just bought used. I was cleaning the door panels off and came across something I have never seen before. Its a film that was on the panels and took a couple steps to remove. So far this is the only spot I have seen like this. I'm wondering if its a Dealer Applied Protectant Film that some dealers offer when they sell vehicles new. I hope it's not the panel outer layer coming off.

Any ideas what it could be ?

Well after using some aggressive cleaner and brushing , followed up with some DP Interior cleaner and protectant this spot looks better. Surface feels better and doesn't feel soft or sticky , like it might be decomposing or anything....or any different that typical door panels feel like.

Any ideas what this might be ?

Thanks

Till today I still don't know WTH was going on with the vents on my truck. They peeled the outer layer of plastic! I still don't know what caused this. Only the vents. Never seen this before. Replaced them myself. The other 2 I had the dealer replace. Cheap plastic? The protectant I was using? Heat? Anyway, they are all good now. I have the interior sealed with Dr. Beasleys dash pro.
