Interior steam cleaning prices...

I will be offering interior steam cleaning this spring and I was unable to find any information regarding the price I should be charging for this.

My service will include steaming the whole interior, carpets, seats, headliner, door panels, dash. Obviously I will vacuum first.

Can anyone give me an idea what I should charge?

Charge an hourly rate
 
I'm considering the addition of a steamer as well, but I'm planning on it decreasing my time spent on each car, as well as giving me a better finished product. I didn't plan on adding it as an option for the customer, at least not on my higher end details. So my detail packages will cost the same, but I'll finish quicker allowing me to do more jobs.

I'm trying to keep my menu of services as simple as possible. Adding the steam clean as an option is just another point of confusion for the customer. IMO

I agree. As a customer, the only way I would understand an upcharge would be for particularly dirty or stained seats or carpet. I would expect to pay more but what tool or chemical you use to clean it does not matter to me. I use steam and love it but only do this as a hobby.

I charge around 145-200 I use the Optima Steamer... ask your self what do you want to make an hour $50 $100 it takes me around an 1 hour to do a cars interior with the optima steamer Its so fast with steam.

Does a mechanic charge you when they get a new wrench set because they have to use that tool to fix your car? That should answer your question.

They do but you don't see it because it's factored into their hourly rate. Dealers especially factor this in.

As a technician, I can tell you that I have invested more in tools than some people invest in a new SUV. And the dealer does not give a crap how much we spend on our tools. We are just expected to have the tools to do the job. Most technicians are in debt with the tool trucks.
