It's always easy to identify a new road, driveway or sidewalk is in the state of oklahoma, because it's not yet rust colored. The soil here has a high level or iron, so much it will stain just about everything a shade of orange.
The dirt is red with iron oxide!
In the stages of working on the hotrod, I decided to clean up most of the suspension and install polyurethane bushing, new ball joints and paint things with por15. Most of the parts were settled into large rubbermaid tubs and submerged with a vinegar/water mix for 24+ hours. This removes all the rust, and after a quick wash the parts are ready for paint.
Last night a make shift "tub" started leaking. It crept out of the garage, and down the driveway a few feet. I had no choice but to drain the rest of the mix onto the driveway and pressure wash the surface "clean".
After doing that, I was thinking about using some ironx on the drive where the stain remained. I used 1/4 of a spray bottle and was shocked to see all areas, even those not heavily stained, turn purple as soon as the spray hit the surface! I let the ironx work it's magic and waited a few minutes after scrubbing it with a brush. Pressure washed the area and realized most of the stain was removed, BUT the big laugh was the area sprayed where no stain was apparent is now whiter than the rest of the driveway!
I'm going to work on the area some more monday evening, and snap photos at the same time... working to get the stain out! I look at the driveway and think to myself, it's going to take a case to do all of this area.
sigh
