Is a hot water hose going to be a problem?

So we just moved into our new house and I realized that the hose in the garage is straight from the water heater. Other than getting a diff. hose is there going to be any other complications with using this hose or should I tap into the cold line and forget about it?

Is the hose coming from the top of the water heater or is it coming from the bottom valve? Just curious but it could be a drain hose. I think cold water is better. IMO

I too wondered if it was the line used to remove water/sediment from hot water heater itself. If so tread carefully.

no it is not the drain off the heater it is a valve that is plumbed through the wall and than out maybe 5 ft from the heater.

So, 140* water is what comes out of your hose to spray on your car, in your bucket, etc...? I couldn't imagine that being good. I usually wash my car with warm 50:50 hot:cold water in the wintertime to make sure it doesn't freeze, but i'd be scared to throw 140* water on a 40-50* car and watch all the metal and glass expand rapidly.

I havent tried it yet, but I am going to tap into the cold water line above the water heater and get a regular water supply. However hot water might be nice to have in the garage.

what about pulling a cold water line out there also so you can mix it and make warm water? Would make washing so much easier in the winter!!

well I guess I could get a small hot water hose and than put them into a small Y converter so I could control the temp to whatever I wanted, this would make warm water possible during winter and cold water during summer.
