I found a spray bottle of Armor All original protectant that has never been opened and has been sitting for at least 25 years, I know its that old because the brand logo is from the 80s and 90s. Is it safe to use this or will it ruin my dash and possibly release toxic chemicals that have mutated over the years?

Looks brand new! I would strongly advise against using that product, new or old, on your dash and interior. Just my opinion.

The only thing I would use that for (assuming its still good) is the wheel wells...

I don't know that it ever was.

I agree ^^^^ I don't think it was ever safe to use.

IMO:

If...after ~25 years...this ArmorAll product's
dimethylpolysiloxane-fluid emulsion still has:

• A viscosity of ~300-400 centistokes;
• A particle size of less than 1/2 micron;
• A specific gravity of: 0.99...@77°F;
• A pH of 8.5; And:
• A milky-white appearance...
(with no visible, grungy "floaties" :eek: )...

Then:
It's probably going to be OK to use as it was intended.

Note:
•Knowing the proper application methods for this product is paramount to its success as a: rubber and polymer...(multi-material)...preservative.

•Hopefully you know what the application methods are, and plan to implement them accordingly.

Why do you want to use it? You can ruin your dash either way though (new or old bottle).

I remember the damage that stuff did to my car interiors. Toss it like other members have said.

Materials Science:

Vehicles' materials have changed/been updated since the 1970s-1980's...for one thing: to keep up with Consumers' demands for better wearing materials...along with bringing down warranty costs as another reason.

Did you ever think that:
Maybe it's not the product that was the problem.
That, instead:
Maybe it was the quality/type of materials that was the problem?

A resounding NO is the answer. Give it to someone you don't like.

I know everyone here hates armor all, but I have used it from the mid 90's on and never had a dashboard turn white or crack due to the product.

It may not be the best, but it isn't as destructive as everyone says.

It makes it so greasy/shiny that it is dangerous to drive with.
