Does anyone wear prescription eyeglasses?

Is it safe to use meguiar autoglass cleaner to clean eye glasses?

•I personally don't use it on my Rx glasses because:

-They have a non-glare coating

-Of D120's high % of: ethylene glycol monobutyl ether (EGBE)---also known as: 2-Butoxyethanol.
{Other synonyms: Butyl Cellosolve®, Butyl oxitol, Dowanol® EB, Ektasolve EB®, Jeffersol EB...}

Note:
All of the above have the same CAS# 111-76-2 designation.

•Also:
-D120's % of IPA also causes consternation on my part.

If you use ONR ad QD dilution it works great on glasses. Buy a bottle of eye glass cleaner at the store - then fill it with ONR when it runs out.

Use Meg's "Perfect Clearity" all the time out here in the garage.

Also have anti-glare, but seems to NOT be a problem.

30+ years in the wholesale optical business here. The only thing you should use to clean your eyeglasses is warm (non moisturizing) soapy water. Just like your vehicle: rinse first, wash, rinse again then dry w/MF towel.

:goodpost:

I must admit, that THIS really is the best method.

Yep. Worn glasses most of my life and my dad was an Opthalmologist with an optical shop in house. Prescription lenses are very costly. They don't require anything fancy and if you think they do, go see a psychiatrist for OCD, because that is just a total waste of mental energy to think about doing that with your glasses. :buffing:

I've used plain soap and water forever...otherwise you can end up destroying the film on your glasses ....and do you want car care chemicals a few centimeters from your eyes?

I've been using a diluted solution of 1 part Meguiar's D120 to 10 parts distilled water for years without incident on all my prescription glasses..............and it works well........and I've not seen a degradation in lens performance.....:dunno:

I have used it on glasses without any ill effect - no spontaneous combustion.

i rinse my sunglasses under the sink with a little soap and warm water and dry with a soft mf towel. while glass cleaner may work, i like to wash/rinse the whole part of the glasses because of the oils it retains from your nose and ears...
