Is m205 on a white LC pad considered a light polish?

Is m205 a good option to remove a coating but not take off clear? I'm stripping off a coating on an '02 Viper to put a new coating on. The paint is in good shape and the car hasn't seen a ton of miles. The main reason for the polish is just to remove the coating. Is this a good combo?
