Anodized wheels

Bare aluminium wheels

I am getting my Meg's WB in today and would like to see a comparo chart to know which type of surface to avoid, versus which is safe.

Sorry to the 15+ people viewing this thread right now thinking... :spam

a quick way to tell if your polished wheels are coated or un-coated is to use a small amount of polish on an inconspicuous (that is not a fun word to spell) place, such as behind the spoke or something. With very little rubbing, if they are un-coated (bare aluminum) the polish will start to turn black as you rub it in. If that's the case, use very gentle cleaners...

Can some wheels be a mix of a clear coated & polished aluminum?

So these wheels are:

Clear coated as well...? Looks like polished aluminium to me.

The reason I ask this is because I've done wheels like these before and the face feels so different than the parts between the spokes so I start to question if it all the same method. It makes me appreciate my BMW rims more and more lol (all clear coated).

aluminum wheels can indeed be clearcoated ...

the rims can also be machined , where fronts appear different (smoother, brighter) than inserts and usually clearcoated also.

Thanks for the response. I hope I don't run into any seriously dirty wheels, but I have a feeling it is going to happen again for sure. :(
