Is this much splatter normal?

After weeks of wet sanding and a very thorough washing today I was finally able to start with the buffing. Just did a test spot tonight. Im using the makita rotary (rpm setting at 1400) with meguiars red foam cutting pad and m105. I primed the pad and added just a few more drops as seen in all of Mike's videos. I know some splatter is inevitable but from the rear panel I was throwing this crap all over the hole car. I know a lot of splatter usually means to much product but if anything I errored on the dry side when adding product. Am I doing something wrong or is this normal? If this is normal what is your process for cleaning all the splatter? Thanks

No, it's not normal. Is this the lowest setting for your machine? If not set it at the lowes speed and spread it quickly before speeding it up. You can also dab it on a few spots to pread it out before you turn it on. M105 will be hard to clean up if it splatters everywhere and dries up. Good luck

No its not the lowest setting, goes down to 600. I thought I was spreading it correctly but I'll pay more attention. Thanks.

Use the zenith method, start slow, build up to the speed you want, then back it down.
