For those of you who do this, is the dilution 1:1?

Also, what alcohol? 70% or 91%? I got a 32oz. bottle of %70, not sure if %91 would of been to much?

what does it mean to dilute 1:1 i odviously understand mixing it with something but what 1 cup water and 1 cup of solution.

91% alcohol means the other ingredient is likely water. (ie. 9%) Likewise 70% already has about 30% water in it. I mix about 3/4 alcohol to 1/4 water max.

50/50 is the mix....either one is good..70% or 91%...both will clean any oils and stuff from paint....

agreed...1:1 is a good ratio...make sure you use distilled water...on an ipa wipe down hard water is a killer....

I'll add slightly more alcohol than water since I got 70%. Maybe like 2:1 or something.

Also, can this mix be used to clean the paint of any wax/sealant? Or is this not a good idea? The main reason I'll be using this is to clean the paint of any excess oils after polishing. But the thought came to me that it may work well to clean the paint of any LSP when wanting to add a fresh coat of wax/sealant.

Scott, I was hoping you would comment on this thread. Afterall, the alchol mix was brought to my attention by you.

IPA wipedowns get real streaky....and I find its just easier to wash the car with a strong soap after polishing..like megs nxt wash...yes you can pretty much strip the whole car of wax/sealant with it...but I dont see the need for it....

you want a little more water than Alc...the water holds the oils in suspension..to much alc and it flashes to fast and may not pick up everything or smear it..

A cleaning type QD only has 4-7% alc in it and it cleans oily fingerprints and grime...

It is great for both oil removal from polishes, before moving on, and also removal of paint sealants. Again I use more alcohol than water (since alcohol already has water in it) and I spray, watch it haze (cloudy white), and then wipe with a thick microfiber. When removing sealants, sometimes a second spritz (not spray) and wipe is needed.

I went ahead and just did 50/50 using 70% alcohol. I also used one of those black fine mist sprayers.

Thanks for the info guys.

I use about 30 to 40 percent water in my mix...

What I do is spray a area and let it sit for a minute or two (but don't let it dry) than re-spray the area and wipe off. I found this cuts down on the streaks and also does a better job of removing LSPs.
