Infiniti G35 Sedan Interior Detail

It was kept clean he said.
Had been a few weeks since it was cleaned, he said.

I only had a 3 hour window to clean the interior of this car.
I ended up getting an addition hour, totaling 4 hours.
I needed at least 2 more hours with it.

It was filthy.
The pictures do not do justice as to just how dirty this car was.
There were coffee and soda stains everywhere.
Scuff marks everywhere.
Items had to be moved out of the way, everywhere.

I am pleased with the final result.
It is not perfect, and by no means a "level 10" detail.
However, given the time constraints and the level of challenge to get the interior clean, I was quite pleased with the result.

I don't have too many after shots, just a few.
The customer arrived to pick up his vehicle.
There was no time to get photos of everything.

Nice. Very nice. Successful rescue mission on the interior.

For me, if it's not a car-related item; it doesn't get to stay in the car.

Oh yes.
A couple more things.

There were an extra complete set of stock G35 floor mats in the trunk.
Both the car mats in the car and the extra set of floor mats in the trunk were filthy dirty.

There were also a couple bottles of glass cleaner.
Wal-Mart generic brand.
One bottle was empty, one was basically full.
I got a chuckle out of this.
I wonder how many years ago that empty bottle was used.

It "was" kept clean. Hadn't been cleaned in a "few" weeks.

Was=when it left the showroom.

Few=how many weeks since it left the showroom

I would be embarrassed to have anyone see my car with a quarter of that junk inside. Have some respect for the person detailing your car. How annoying having to spend 5-10 mins picking up after Mr or Miss Piggy before you even start detailing.

Nice save.

This is just a general question for anyone, do you ask the customer to remove as much of their personal items as they can ?

This is not so bad. If you ever get a soccer mom mini-van you will very likely have a heart attack :) Be warned ;)

The lesson here: Take what the client tells you and imagine it 5 times worst.

That interior was pretty clean by my standards, how deos one spend so much time on a interior.

Nice work!

Unfortunately for me here. The average car I see is typically in worse condition than this. Along with being told "no pet hair at all" or "its not to bad" Ive learned to expect that when they say that it really means "I have pig slop everywhere, and a fur bomb exploded in the car."

I have that one vehicle that I will always remember. 2010 Dodge Caravan. It looked like they had a Taco Bell bean burrito dodgeburritto playoffs mixed with everything else you can imagine. It was night and day when it was over. I spent like 45 minutes just getting all the debris out of the Stow and Go spaces.

I've learned that no matter what people say to you as to the condition of their vehicle, they don't clean it so they don't have a concept of what clean is. Their gauge is off as far as that is concerned.

I won't even mess with dog hair, walked, away from numerous jobs cause of that.alittle,or moderate is fine.full blown dog hair forget it those kind of jobs usually happen around the holidays for some reason.

Nice turnaround! I'm sure the owner was quite pleased. I read somewhere that a clean interior of your car is a de stressor. You don't feel all cluttered and chaotic - you feel organized and "in order". Besides one's home, the car is one of the most expensive cash outlays you can have, unless you are paying for your children(s) college education - lol. Treat the car with the respect it deserves.

It's always agitated me a bit to have a customer show up without any attempt to remove a bunch of clutter in the interior that takes me maybe 10 minutes to remove. I have to get all that junk out of the way, determine whats trash and whats not and even after that i neatly organize the stuff that wasn't trash and neatly organize it back in the vehicle when i'm done.

I hate that too and the clutter you put back in, you have to make it looks like nice clutter, and it makes your job look not as good.

+ - every business has them unfortunately

Yes, i said mildly agitated as it's a necessary evil and really doesn't happen too often but to be honest, i spend about 5 minutes of the 10 it takes me to remove it thinking "who the heck doesn't care enough about their detailer or themselves for that matter to NOT at least take half this crap in the house before they have someone get 'intimate' with their interior?".

On the other side...

It always cracks me up to have Mrs. Puckman spend about 2 hours cleaning the house before the maid service shows up but we're just different i guess!

Yea, im to that point now. I'm going to either explain that itll be additional x amount, or walking away!

Just a thought too.... what really grind my gears is when I get there then have to wait for them to clean it up so you can start! Its nice for the attempt but would have been nicer to have it done before the appointment!

I do request this.
Customers just do not always do it.
At some point, I intend to add an additional charge for removal of contents.
For new customers, I try not to present an issue of it, as in this case.

I agree.
This car was by no means the worst thing ever.
I have seen worse.
It was pretty bad, though.
The pictures just do not do the condition justice.

There were lots of hard stains on all the plastic trim in between the seats and down in the crevices.
The headliner looked like a smokers car, but the guy doesn't smoke.
Every large and little space had either stains or scuff marks.
The rubber trim was filthy, and I made sure to get down into the crevices of the window trim.
All the door jams were pretty dirty.
I spent quite a lot of time scrubbing the floor mats.

I spent at least 30 minutes on one particular coffee stain on the passenger seat.
I used everything I had on it, and initially thought I made it worse.
Worse being that the coffee stain looked darker and more pronounced.
When I realized there was an outdoor electrical socket that I could actually access, I then used my steam machine on it, which made it much better, but maybe only brought it back to the original stain appearance.
Finally I just had to move on and get the rest of the car clean.

I am sure there are faster ways to accomplish the same level of clean and conditioning that was achieved.
I currently do not have an air compressor or a Tornador.
This alone could have saved time with carpet and upholstery, and even the door jambs.

I am all ears for any advice on faster ways of doing things.
This especially true for coffee stains on leather, lol.

That's my wife's car. When I do the interior (I WON'T touch the trunk), I bag EVERYTHING and give it to her. "Here, this is what was in your car, you sort it out."
