I ordered some Meguiars d151. Most of my work so far is dealer work and I was on a mission to show them the benefits of paint correction... Mission failed!

I've been providing at least 75% correction on their cars. I don't mind going the extra mile to make them happy. I now know I am an idiot.

One dealer I do work for has a full time detailer and I get their overflow. I stopped in to tell him hello. What I saw was a what I needed I guess.

He just washed a black car I corrected for them and was drying it off. He was using a bath towel in worse shape than what I do my jams with. He was wiping the wheels & tires, while the rest of the towel was dragging all over the ground. Right back up to the paint he went with it. I literally stood there and watched him scratch the hell out of that car.

Lesson learned. D151 can't get here soon enough.

They don't care its just a car for sale all they care about is selling the car.

Kudos to you for stepping in. It will probably be a lot of work at first getting them on board with you but hopefully it will pay off.

Its just frustrating to me. I worked in dealer detail shops for several years. Its just crazy how reckless most detailers are. Customers do notice bad detailing. I used to have to redo a lot of cars because the customer wouldnt accept a scratched/swirled up car.

I was always considered the bad guy for being vocal about the importance of producing a better detail.

Let me tell you something...

A boss never wants to here someone telling others that the work could be better...for whatever reason they don't like to hear that. It's a shame too...you've got an employee telling you they could produce better work and the boss won't have it. Huh? What's up with that?

I once (actually 3 times politely) asked a guy to pull 3 nails in a bulkhead in a concrete form to plumb up the panel. Pull just 3 nails, that's all it took. He even had the level right next to him. His panel was out 3 inches in 2 feet...talk about way off.

I got called into the office for ripping his work apart (and I was the boss on the job) and fixing it. They said I was too particular. Heck, they had even asked me to run the job for cryin' outloud. I told them if you don't like my work then don't ask me to run the job because you can find someone else. My work ethic caused me to get asked to run the job and to politely ask the guy to fix the problem. I'm not sacrificing my work ethic and my name for no one...no one.

The guy had a level right beside him...all he had to do was use it. It's just as easy to do the job right the first time as it is to have to do it a second time. It takes more time to do it twice than to do it right once. So much for them preaching, "time is money" to them. Sure it is...

Trust me that dealers like more glaze works than correction and you should had ordered some glaze products.
