Japenese Mini Trucks

I have been looking to get a vehicle for my mobile setup, ive been looking for astro vans which i found are really popular in the detailing community. But i got to thinking about Bongo trucks (Iraq veteran, those are everywhere over yonder lol) theyre real compact and im guess great on the mileage. however ive found differing statements in regards to being street legal. Ive heard that some states you have to transport them, others have said that they are allowing on anything buy freeways...???
really just looking for a more direct response from the detailing community. thank you!

I haven't seen a bongo truck since Iraq! I would doubt they would be highway safe in most states.
