Jay's new muscle car projects - Wetsand, cut and buff...



My buddy Jay just bought a 1971 Chevelle with a 454 and factory air, pretty cool...

He's offered it up for a wetsanding project after it comes out of the body shop with its brand new paint job!

Mike, you get your hands on the sikest muscle cars. Must be nice to have the skill set!
 
Yea I'd say a 454 can run factory air! Looking forward to updates.

This project is coming right along... we should be able to start the wetsanding sometime in May....

The two ends of the spectrum in the paint polishing world are,

The ability to restore what's antique.

The ability to perfect what's brand new.​

Both are as challenging as they are rewarding. If you can do these two things everything in-between is a walk in the park.

These pictures are iphone 4 pics from Jay. As soon a I can, possibly this Saturday I'll get some really good shots and check the level of orange peel in the paint to.

This is going to be a landmark project.

Oh man, I'm excited to see the write up on this one! I have a feeling the word epic will come to mind... Maybe a taped (or live) broadcast is in order, hint hint, Mr. Yancy? :laughing:

I can see it now... A "Helping in the Heartland" type project, but more aptly named, Perfecting Jay's Chevelle Because it has a FACTORY 454, or something along those lines... :hungry:
 
***Update***


The Chevelle is at the upholstery shop getting a new custom interior. When it comes out of the upholstery shop it's time to wetsand, cut and buff for a show car finish.

Here she is all assembled after painting....
