I know this has nothing to do with detailing. My MTD riding mower blew the engine after 6 years. I had 2 blown head gaskets and other issues as well.
I am looking at a John Deere lawn tractor and was wondering if anyone else here has them and are they all they are hyped up to be. Tell me please as I am going to go purchase one Monday. I have about 1 1/2 acres to mow and want a good machine that will last if I take good care of it.

nothing runs like a Deere! My wifes family are farmers in Indiana and the absolutely swear by John Deere. I've never owned one personally, but if I were to get a riding mower, I'd sure look a them. I'm sure others are good as well, but the name has an unmatched history.

Zero lot lines here ... so no rider help. I have always stuck with push mowers and look for the most powerful Craftsman with a Briggs Straton motor. Parts are always available and Sears aint going out of business. Funny each one I had (2) have run like champs with nothing more than an oil change and filter every couple of years. (yeah, yeah ... I know its suppose to be done more often)

If you are looking to buy a True John Deere Lawn Mower then go to a John Deere Dealership. The John Deere Lawn Mowers sold at places like Home Depot are not the same machine. JoeD

Funny.. I was just looking this up on the web yesterday.......

John Deere is #1 in most people's eyes... and rightfully so....

Although the Craftsman tractors are great as well... made by Husqvarna which are supposdly decent for the $$....

Stay away from MTD machines as you personally witnessed.... this includes most of the HD/Lowes lines....

include Bolens, Cub Cadet, Murray, White, Yard Machines and Yard Man. The repair record for Yard Machines and Yard Man is getting worse rather than better, according to owner surveys. (got that from a website... ) google lawn tractors....
And there's a cheapie Toro LX that is made by MTD... so its unknown if it will be troublefree....

Personally, for me, since I have under 1/2 acre.. Id buy a Craftsman... but since you have alot more property to maintain, Id go with the Deere!!

if you want a mover that will mow fast go for a zero turn mower
alot of brands available from toro to husquavarn to the deere

they are fast and turn on a dime

Had my Deere for years and no problems at all

I have a John Deere for 20 years and it still cuts like the day I bought it. The quality of the these machines is impecable. Make sure to get hydro static drive, it is worth the extra money

Had a John Deere for three years. Hated it!. Replaced it with a Toro Whelle Horse. Love it!. I've had it for 8 years and it is still runnin g great.

I picked up my new GX0135 Automatic yesterday. I love the machine. Drives
like no other mower I have ever owned. I bought it at a tractor dealer that
I used to buy all my mowing equipment from and know the support will be
there if needed. 30 day test drive. If I do not like it, I can trade it for another model or get my money back. No questions asked.
