want to start off on the right foot. It's a light green Honda Accord EX-L V6 with back interior.

I'm jumping right on the paint and (after wash) started Meg's clay bar. While I have used Meguiar products in the past, I really like what I've read about some of the products here. I've seen BobbyG's list a long with a few others.

A kit that's caught my eye is the original forum favorite. I'm thinking of the version with the Klasse twins and Souveran as I don't need the clay at the moment. I like this route as I can honestly say that I am not the type to wax every 1-2 months. I would also like something strong to minimize chips on the front end without having to resort to a bra.

That said, I've read in a few places that the Wolfgang Polish might bring out lighter and/or metallic paints better - like my light green - with the Souveran on top. Will you share opinions on that?

Also, I'm finally going to pull the trigger on a PC with 5" plate, have looked at the pad selections and am not quite sure which to buy given the polish, sealant and wax ideas above. Any suggestions are welcome.

Nice...congrats on picking up new wheels.

There are a couple of Honda owners on here, and we'll all tell you that paint is delicate. I was just talking about it over the weekend about how if I could do it again, I would've gotten a car-bra for my car. I do anything from 40-60k miles a year, so my chips may come a lot more frequently, but I've got a TON of chips anod not just on the front. I also didn't find AG until about 50,000 miles deep.

In terms of duration and not waxing for more than 2 months, everyone here will point you to Collinite #845. I just put some on my Honda my protection for the rest of the winter.

Outside of that, I've never used the products you've mentioned, nor a PC (looking to pull the trigger myself sometime soon), so I can't help out there, but BobbyG is a solid source of info.

Klasse AIO and Klasse Sealant are great products. The Klasse AIO is a chemical cleaner. So it will remove any oxidation but not remove any swirls or below surface defects. Since the car isn't very old I doubt it has any oxidation but I could be wrong. As far as the Klasse Sealant goes, it is also a great product but it is a pain to work with. To get the best results most of us either us it as a wipe on, wipe off sealant. Or when I does haze we mist with some QD to help get it off. When this stuff hazes its the biggest PITA to get off without using a QD to aid in it. Souveran would look great on your car, but it's not going to last more then 2 months. I would clay your car before you put any sealant/wax on it. This will ensure you get maximum durability out of the sealant/wax because then it will have a great surface to bond to. Also use a pre-wax cleaner or IPA to clean the surface beforehand, again I think it help make the surface as clean as possible for the sealant/wax to bond to.

Wolfgang polishes are great! So are Menzerna, Meguiar's and Optimum polishes. But if you do use just Souveran after that, your probably not going to get the durability your looking for. Since your looking to help prevent rock chips (as much as possible) and you said your not one to wax your car every 2 months I would say your best bet would be Opti-coat 2.0. That would offer you the most protection from scratches and rock chips AND it would last 2 years!

Good buy on the PC :buffing: The Hydro-tech pads are really good and work exceptionally well with the Wolfgang products. I would get at least 2 of each of the 5.5 x 7/8 Cyan, Tangerine and Crimson. You could also go with the regular Lake Country Flat Pads, those work really well also. Another option would be to get the new Meguiar's DA Microfiber System. I personally haven't used it yet but people LOVE it. Many people aren't using foam pads much at all anymore after switching. But you would have more versatility of products if you choose the foam pads. I believe theres a spot for both, but if your gonna only pick one or the other I would get the foam just because they will work better with a more variety of products.

Some Products I would suggest are . . .

Compound: Meguiar's M105
Menzerna SIP
Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover

Polish: Meguiar's M205
Menzerna PO85U
Wolfgang Finishing Glaze

Sealant: Menzerna PowerLock
Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant
BlackFire Wet Diamond
Klasse High Gloss Sealant

Wax: Collinite 845

Pads: Hydo-tech 5.5x7/8
LC Flat pads

I know thats long but I hope it answered some of your question! Good luck!

Thanks JBL. I won't be putting on that kind of mileage, but my 01 Honda (white) has seen it's battles.

Thanks Shoeless. I'm not sure I want to make a 2 year commitment with the Opti and will take a close look at Collinite. I may get the Souveran and try it and see how much I like the look. That may change my attitude!

I'm still curious if the Wolfgang sealant would be better than the Klasse sealant for my light metallic paint?

Thanks for the pad suggestions. That will help.

I think Wolfgang and Klasse would both look great. I doubt you would really see much difference between the two. If I had to pick between the two I would probably go with Wolfgang. Your gonna sacrifice durability but gain CONSIDERABLY in the ease-of-use department. I think it would take about 30min-1hr to apply and remove Wolfgang (not including curing time) but I think it would take 2hrs+ to apply and remove Klasse just because its so hard to get off. And IMO if you just do the wipe on, wipe off, your not getting the full protection of Klasse anyway.

My vote is Wolfgang between those two.

Thanks Shoeless. Based upon your thoughts I've done a bit more searching and it appears that the Menzerna Powerlock and Collinite 845 would be a superb combination. I'll add the Menzerna to my list to review.

You're bringing back some memories on the Klasse sealant. 15 years a go I tried this on a Passat. You're right it was a PITA to get rid of the haze.

So I think I'm honing in on Menzerna Powerlock or Wolfgang deep gloss. Not sure what decides between the two? Since I'm moving away from the forum favorite I need some selections for polishes compounds. Shoeless had both brands in his suggestions. Should I stay with a family?
