For as long as I have been at it there are still firsts that come along. This time is a full wheels off and coating on a new white 2016 GTR. I did confirm that this particular model has the scratch shield "self-healing" clear coat.

There is definitely a challenge to polishing out this type of clear but it can be done using some interesting techniques.

Really looking forward to doing this vehicle! Little teaser picture from the owner.

Cool. I take it you're a Nissan guy? Do you also own 1 of these kind of cars? What products are you planning to use to compound & polish it? And what kind of polisher?

Congrats Justin! Looks exciting. Keep us posted and have fun.

More of just a car guy. I love anything cool. Especially if I get to polish it up!

No I don't own one of these cars. Plan is to use a cold polishing technique with m205 and ice water on my g21. Being a new car I hope it doesn't need to much work but we know how that goes lol

Nice car! What sealant do you usually provide to the customers ?

Typically for sealants it's TAC Systems Quartz Max( similar to Reload) or Hydro2.

This car is getting Crystal serum light on the paint. Then Uber Ceramic Coating on the glass and wheels.

Thank you. Planning on it.

Could you elaborate on the cold polishing technique? It sounds interesting. Would love to know more about it and when to use it etc.

Don't overthink the correction process here... we've worked on several GT-R's that have the scratch shield sticker on them and all of them reacted to normal polishing technique/products/processes just the same as any other paint. I have read some of the "horror stories" of GT-R paint being very difficult to polish, so perhaps we've been lucky, but I would recommend starting with the basics and adapting to more non-traditional processes only if needed.

You know the saying... work smarter, not harder. Don't over complicate things :)

I have only polished my buddy's and everything went fine. I used hyper polish on 3401 w/orange and white hybrids and it was fine. It always makes the job that much nicer when it's something you've been wanting to work on.

Thanks Zach you are definitely correct.

well it's a no go for now. Customer cancelled last minute due to someone hitting the front of it last night. Kinda bummed out :(
