This is an aggressive compound using top notch abrasive technology and this is what I'm talking about when I say it's all about the abrasive technology.

Next up... SONAX Cut & Finish with a LC Hybrid foam polishing pad on the FLEX 3401.

Wow, finished out really nice for heavy cut and wool! It's hard to tell by looking at the picture on my phone but I don't see any compounding haze. Mind if I ask which wool pad and backing plate you used? I love Sonax products. I've been using PF on orange hybrid pads quite a bit lately.

Looks awesome already mike!
Btw what kind of wool pad is that?
Any hints on upcoming sales for the flexx x3401? I want to pull the trigger on one of those bad boys.

***Bump***

Have not forgotten about this thread, just so busy all the time with great projects!

Wanted to bump this for my friend Jason who I just got off the phone with. Jason is buffing out an oxidized Cabin Cruiser boat and this is the pad I'm recommending to use with his FLEX 3401 and the heavy cut cleaner/wax in the Marine 31 line to do a one-step restoration on oxidized white gel-coat.

Thanks Mike, for sharing another great car and what looks like a great pad/polish combo.

That's the first 1940 Pontiac 5-Window Coupe I've ever buffed out. Don't actually see them very often.

I like how the late 1930s and early 1940s era coups look. Most are 5-windows like this Pontiac, but there are few 3-windows like the 1941 Chrysler Businessman's Coupe

Just a different look without the back windows...

How to use the Flex 3401 for Show Car Detailing

Mike, have you had any occurances of the wool fibers getting bound up in the center hole?

I did some testing with a Meguiar's W4000 wool pad on the 3401, and it started to melt the hooks of the plate around the hole, as well as the loop material. It got really hot in there. If I had to do it over again, I'd cut the offending fibers out of the pad. I may get this chance as my "new to me" 3401 is an route from Cali from a friend. It will be here Wednesday. Kind of excited to have it back in the arsenal!

Crazy man. Getting rid of it in the first place :)

I love my 3401 (both of them)

*headdesk

You know it, man!

Big mistake. Huge.

I mentioned elsewhere that I did so many huge vehicles last summer, that the 3401 would have really helped with. I had to rotary cut, and follow with the PC. If I had the 3401, it would have been all I needed.

I distinctly doing an AIO (when I had my first 3401) to a mid sized sedan, and it only took something like 45 minutes to machine, and that was with doing a good amount of swirl removal.

So now I have to admit to being very happy to have one back in the stable. I need to either tighten or replace the cord, but after that I'll enjoy some forced rotation muscle getting me home in less time.
