I'm going to detail a Chevrolet avalanche this weekend the owner said that he had a kerosene spill in the bed of the truck, this is one of them that has the rubber mat, what can I use to get this smell out...
Please help !

I'd try some lightly diluted APC first and see how that works. You could also try some simple green and a brush.

I have an Avalanche that has the same rubber matting in the back and I usually just wash it with a brush and my wash solution, but for a spill I'd try some simple green or some other APC.

The problem is likely that the kerosene has penetrated into the rubber mat and getting the kerosene that's soaked inside of the rubber out of the rubber will be difficult to fix 100%

Scrubbing with an APC or even a detergent wash and then flushing with lots of water and repeating this a few times will be about as good as you can get...

Maybe think of doing this over a place where the residue will be captured versus running down a storm drain.

:)

Don't know, but would grinding some baking soda or kitty litter on it soak up any of the smell? Would Dawn break up any of the oil from it? Don't really know, but it might work.

I was thinking Dawn when I listed Detergent, something that will penetrate into the rubber mat to some level, help to dissolve and emulsify the kerosene so it can be flushed away...

Then time and exposure to both rain and sunshine should help also...
