Too many pads............ not enough knowledge, please set me straight.

I (stupidly) just started buying pads according to their intended use, such as a "light cutting pad", "polishing pad", "finishing pad", "ultra finishing pad", etc.

I have a few Lake Country Hydro Pads. I use a PC 7424xp with a 5" and a 6" backing plate (large car). Are these "hydro pads" special in some sort of way, do they have a particular niche where they should be used? Are they fine to be used with the PC 7424?

So many pads............. what's a guy to do?? TIA

Hydrotech pads are made to be used with a DA and are just fine to use on either a DA or Rotary tool.

The difference between most Lake Country standard pads is that they have a closed cell foam construction which helps keep the product on the surface. They work well with many types of polishes, and can increase the working time on some waterbased polishes that have a short cycle time typically.

Because they are closed cell, they tend to not dissipate heat as well as a standard pad, but as long as you check your pad regularly for overheat/too much heat, you will be fine. If you have any questions, we're always here! If you have a bunch of questions, please feel free to shoot an email too. [email protected]
