Lake Country Pads vs Buff and Shine Pads

it's good to have a variety of different pads and good results can be had from both companies. as far as overall quality, i prefer the b&s pads. i've never had any velcro issues with any of their pads as i've had with the lake country in the past...

I am in the opposite camp. I prefer the Lake Country Pads as the B&S Hex logic pads seem to flatten out sometimes!!! VISITOR, you can be the Celtics I will be the Lakers!!!!....LOL

I do have both and all are good quality overall. It's just a preference and IMO my preference is the LC CCS pads.

IMO Both are excellent products and should be in anyone's arsenal.

No problems with the flat B&S pads here. Like VISITOR I have never had problems with the velcro failing after multiple uses and cleans.

I use B&S and LC CCS I have not had any issues out of either.

For foam my long-standing go-to is Buff and Shine 5.5" pads. To get the most out of the yellow especially b/c it's so stiff, soak it with hot water and then ring it out. Spin at 3000 rpm on rotary so it's only moist and then use. Why? It takes a pad, which when dry, feels very stiff and unmalleable pad and turns it into a soft, flexible wonder. It does NOT give up any cut doing that either. Try it; you'll thank me, hehehehe.

For wool, Tuf Buff black wool is the undisputed KING!

I use both LC CCS, and Hex Logic which I believe is made by Buff & Shine. They are both star performers. It's weird how I use one maker for one product, and vice versa. For instance, I like cutting with a green Hex Logic, using 105, or UC. The next step is polishing with 205, or UP, where I like the blue Hex, or green CCS. On most of the cars I maintain, SwirlX is what I've been using, where the green CCS is what I favor. I had to do some heavy cutting last month, where I favored the yellow CCS. In all honesty, it's however the mood strikes me. AG gives really good deals on the CCS pads though, and there's a lot of interaction between Lake Country, and their customers on here. Just browse some of the threads to see where they've gone above and beyond to take care of their customers. That is a really big difference maker for me.

Liking my B&S 5.5 flat pads, just simpler and more direct. New DA variable pads look interesting.

speaking of B&S pads, looks like AG's sister store carries them now. better late than never...

Pretty much the difference is in the foam formulations that each company uses. Lake Country and BNS use different foams for most of our products regardless of the foam color.

Lake Country Mfg. Has been working very hard over the last year. In recent months prior to the release of out new HD Orbital pad, we have significantly increased, and upgraded the bond to ensure the best durability.

The complete hydrotech line has had an adhesive upgrade along with our standard line of foams.

We have upgraded the adhesive on all of the purple foamed wool and lambswool pads as well.

While the HD orbital pad was made to be a heavy duty pad for long stroke machines, we feel durability is a huge factor and wanted to completely upgrade our line as well.

We take any product failure very seriously and apologize for any issues you have had in the past with delamination.

If for some reason you do or have had any problem, please email us immediately and we can address the issue right away. We would never want a customer to have bad experience, and we always stand behind our product. [email protected]

^This is why I give Lake Country the edge.^ David Patterson is an active forum member and doesn't hesitate to stand by LC products whenever there is an issue - and I speak from direct experience. Who can stay that about B&S products?

I like and use both brands.

I really like the Orange Cutting pads from LC and the Green Polishing pads from BNS.

i use buff n shine 3 inch pads, i really like the self centering backing. i have had velcro issues with them though. i have about 4 polishing and finishing pads get thrown across the shop when the velcro lets go from the pad.

LC and B&S both make great pads. Don't forget about Meguiars and Rupes. Meg is still my favorite MF pad and the Rupes Yellow polishing pad is superior so many ways.

After wearing out my B&S microfiber cutting pads - I tend to work on old cars, I was faced with about a forth of a car left and no cutting pads. So, tried the B&S microfiber polishing pad - and man! That thing did BETTER! The foam was not so stiff and allowed me to hit areas that the other pad would not. I couldn't detect any loss of cutting power either.

Saw the new Meguiar's Thin Foam Pads in action last nite down at Meguiar's HQ

They will soon be a part of the conversation, especially when paired with standard DA tools

Very smooth

Zero heat build-up

For some reason easier to clean on the fly

Nice finish from the Burgundy cutting pad

Art Hernandez was shooting video and should have it up later today

i've had issues with LC pads and most likely will not buy them anymore, even more so since the new megs DA pads are here now. it's nice to have options these days and choosing what suits you best is all that matters...

I've been interest in the Hydro tech line, especially the Cyan cutting pad, but have read, and seen questionable reviews of this particular series of pads.

I've also experienced that the hex logic (b&s) pads are exceptionally resilient, and robust. However, I've yet to run an LC CCS pad to failure.
