so i am looking to get a set of pads. i have heard of good things about both CCS from lake county mfg. and also hexlogic from chemical guys. has any one ever used them are they basicly the same (hexagon pateren vs the CCS dots) or are they used for different things???? lets take a vote also any info would be helpfull

I believe HL pads are still being made by Buff & Shine. IMHO, they make a better pad than LC. I feel whatever adhesive BnS uses for the "velcro", it is significantly better to what LC uses.

do they have to be washed by hand or can they go in machiene is that why you said adheasive better?

just found chem. guys also has a pad i think they call it BUFX but visually looks like a lake county CCS pad ...this is one thing i am tring to fig. out does the pattern on the face wether its the ccs or BUFX "dots" or the hexagon pattern make a difference are they used for diff. things

did some reading it is BUFLC not BUFX sorry and they are made by lake county i guess sold on chem guys site .....they dont say ccs but looks the same my questions about the differences still stand tho

megs 5" DA foam discs and/or the B&S 5.5" flat pads would be my choice...

These two specific lines are very different.

In general, all but the white lc ccs pad are open cell foam.

The Hex Logic feature four closed cell (yellow, orange, white, and red) and three open cell (green, blue, grey) in the line.

I enjoy and use both brands of pads.

Lake country ccs and hydrotech pads are imo some of the best pads, I will say the white, green and black hex logic are nice too.

The idea behind the ccs dimples, is that it will hold any excess product. To some extent, the same idea applies to the hex face pads. One benefit that I like about the face designs is smoother machine operation, and reduced heat on both the pad, and the paint.

I agree.

I'm in the process of building up my Lake Country Hydrotech inventory.

The bulk of my work is done with the hex logic green (cutting), blue (polishing), and red buff and shine (sealant/wax).

LC Hybrid>Hydrotech>Flats>CCS

B&S Hex > CCS. I never found a way to like the LC CCS on rotary or DA.

I do love me some LC flat pads too, orange, white and blue did me well when I first started to polish cars

Haven't tried those yet, but I imagine they are similar to the Megs pads I used to use on the rotary.

when you say 2 line are very difference? is it just the open cell foam and closed cell foam? what does that mean open or closed? idk what that would mean (open or closed) i am still new to DA polishing and pads? what the difference ? do they have different results or are they used for different things???

Yes, the ccs and hex logic lines are very different because of the appearance of closed cell foams in the Hex Logic line.

In general, open cell pads can administer cut on their own, they dissipate heat with greater efficiency, they are very durable. The cells look like circular interconnected windows panes, with no glass.

Closed cell prepolymer foam pads are designed to keep the polish on the surface of the pad face, rather than absorb it up into itself. These pads allow you to have more control over the cut of the abrasive - more pressure = harder cut. Many of these pads also leave an excellent, glossy finish.

Keep in mind - I'm generally speaking.

In short, they're two different roads to the same destination.

I personally love having the options, and enjoy using both styles.

ok nice good explaination THANKS i am going to do a lil more research and also see what kind of deals i can get if i buy the whole set rather than 1 by 1...let ya know what i do.............any one happen to know any sites where i can get these pads with out spending a whole lota money? i found a few. i just dont want to buy them and then the next day find the same product for a much better price. (these sort of things seem to happen to me all the time) thanks again every one for the advice i appreciate it

For the Hex Logic self centering pads, if I have a 6" backing plate, what size pads would I need. It looks like the pad would need to be quite a bit larger, like a 7-1/2" pad for a 6" backing plate.

Well, if you can live without the hex design, Autopia carries the Buff and Shine line, which in the 5" size, is the same line up as the Hex. If you want the Hex, you'd have to find them from another vendor.

I picked up both the Hex Logic, and Lake Country CCS when I upgraded from the generic pads from the local vendor.

That I'm not sure of. I've never used the self centering pads.
